April 2, 2002 | Scoring its highest total-day ratings with kids 2-11 and total viewers in four years, Nickelodeon has completed First Quarter 2002 as basic cable’s number-one network on a 24-hour basis--extending its household reign at the top spot to 26 consecutive quarters. For 1Q ’02 with kids 2-11 in total day, Nick averaged a 3.1/21 rating and share (986,000 average kid viewers)—increases of +3% in rating and +7% in delivery over last year’s like time period. The network’s 24-hour average of 1.8 million total viewers for 1Q ’02 marks an +11% lift over like time period last year.

March 12, 2002 | With changes afoot next season in the Saturday-morning TV landscape, Nickelodeon–the number-one entertainment brand for kids--will broaden its offerings and introduce a new programming block for The CBS Television Network’s Saturday-morning children’s schedule, it was announced today by Cyma Zarghami, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Nickelodeon. Beginning in September 2002, kids will get more of their favorite Nick shows on CBS on Saturday mornings --including The Wild Thornberrys and Hey Arnold!--as some of Nickelodeon’s most popular animated series with kids 2-11 make their broadcast television debut. The new series being added to the schedule will be combined with the established Nick Jr. preschool favorites to serve a wider kids 2-11 audience on CBS’s Saturday mornings.

March 5, 2002 | Kid favorite Rosie O’Donnell will return for a sixth year to host Nickelodeon’s 15th Annual Kids’ Choice Awards, joined by an array of stars from the worlds of film, music, sports and television. The event, which celebrates the extreme power of kids, will air live from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, CA, on Saturday, April 20, from 8-9:30PM ET/PT (tape delayed for West Coast).

February 26, 2002 | Propelled by drawing its biggest kids’ and total viewers’ audiences ever during its Kids’ Day* schedule, Nickelodeon finished February 2002 as the number-one basic-cable network on a 24-hour basis among overall households (1.5/1.2 million HH), up +5% in rating over last year and +15% ahead of the number-two-ranked Lifetime Television (1.3/1.1 million HH—up 5%), according to Nielsen Media Research for 1/28-2/24/02. Also, in prime time (8-11 p.m. ET/PT) among households, Nickelodeon/Nick at Nite scored a 1.6/1.4 million HH, up 7% over last year.

January 15, 2002 | Nickelodeon's newest live-action, half-hour comedy series, The Nick Cannon Show, premieres Saturday, January 19, at 9:30 p.m. (ET/PT) in the newly revamped SNICK (Saturday Night Nickelodeon) line-up. Nick Cannon, the 21-year-old star who has become a favorite with Nickelodeon audiences as a former All That cast member and current host of the TEENick Sunday programming block, executive produces -- along with Tollin Robbins Productions -- and stars in the "comedy-on-the-go" series. Shot entirely on location, The Nick Cannon Show features Cannon "taking over" real-life situations such as a family dinner, a baseball game or lunchtime at a high school cafeteria. Cannon also "mixes it up" with celebrities such as Eddie Murphy, Britney Spears, Usher, The Sopranos' Joe Pantoliano, Mary J. Blige, Master P and Lil' Romeo.

January 15, 2002 | Nickelodeon's longest-running live action series, All That, revs up for its seventh season with an all new format, including a weekly celebrity host and an all new kid cast. The fun begins Saturday, January 19 in the newly revamped SNICK (Saturday Night Nickelodeon) line-up at 8p.m. (ET/PT) when All That introduces a fresh-faced new cast performing original, over-the-top sketches, a celebrity host each week and musical performances by today's hottest hip-hop, rap and pop artists.

January 2, 2002 | Nickelodeon has finished 2001 with its biggest kids' audience in the network's 22-year history, breaking the audience-level record it set just last year and also advancing its standing (25 consecutive quarters) as basic cable's number-one network among kids and households in total day for '01 and fourth quarter, according to Nielsen Media Research (1/1-12/30/01). Nickelodeon--distributed to more than 84 million U.S. homes--scored its most-watched year ever among its core demo of kids 2-11 by growing last year's total-day average audience of 866,000 kids 2-11 by +3% to 895,000 year to date.
