Disney Channel Moves & Rebrands YouTube Channels; Disney XD & Mickey Mouse Are Gone

A pretty significant change for Disney Channel’s YouTube accounts has occurred today. The primary Disney Channel account has rebranded to Disney Channel Animation, while the Disney XD account has been rebranded into Disney Channel. Meaning there is no longer a Disney XD YouTube account.

With the change, videos featuring live-action programming from the original Disney Channel account have been moved over to the new one (with Disney XD’s old live-action videos). Animation videos from Disney XD’s old account have moved to Disney Channel Animation (including anime like Beyblade and Yu-Gi-Oh!).

This comes after they rebranded the Descendants YouTube channel into Disney Channel Music last month. With that change, music-related videos were moved to that channel from the original Disney Channel account.

Also at some point recently, the official Mickey Mouse YouTube channel appears to have been removed. Many videos from that channel appear to now be on the new Disney Channel Animation channel or have moved to the Disney Kids channel.

YouTube only allows certain creators (notably TV networks) to move videos from channel to channel. Nickelodeon has done this numerous times with their expanding YouTube network of channels. There doesn’t appear to be any way to know this without closely monitoring videos and the channel IDs they are connected to.
