Nick kicks-off 15th annual Worldwide Day of Play plans

NICKELODEON KICKS OFF SUMMER CELEBRATION OF PLAY,
BRINGING WORLDWIDE DAY OF PLAY EVENTS TO CITIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY

 MULTI-CITY TOUR TO VISIT PHOENIX, ARIZ.; ST. LOUIS, MO.; PITTSBURGH, PA.; OAKLAND, CALIF.; AND BROOKLYN, N.Y.; LEADING UP TO NET’S ANNUAL WORLDWIDE DAY OF PLAY ON SEPT. 29

NEW YORK–May 23, 2018– Nickelodeon is kicking off its summer-long play campaign, a slime-filled cross-country tour that celebrates all the ways kids love to play. As part of the net’s Worldwide Day of Play (WWDoP) initiative, the tour will bring activities to events in Phoenix, Ariz.; St. Louis, Mo.; Pittsburgh, Pa.; Oakland, Calif.; and Brooklyn, N.Y., leading up to Nick’s 15th annual Worldwide Day of Play on Saturday, Sept. 29, when Nickelodeon and its sister channels–Nick Jr., Nicktoons, TeenNick and NickMusic–will suspend programming and host grassroots activities with its partners across the U.S. to encourage kids to go outside and get active.

“Our summer events each year have helped magnify our Worldwide Day of Play initiative, connecting us with new partners and communities across the country that work to encourage kids and families to seek out active play,” said Marva Smalls, Executive Vice President of Public Affairs and Chief of Staff, Nickelodeon Group. “We’re proud to be able to launch another summer-long campaign, teaming up with exceptional organizations to celebrate kids’ love of play while showcasing its importance to their daily lives.”

For Nickelodeon’s cross-country play campaign, the net is partnering with non-profit organizations and foundations for fun-filled events that will feature Nick-themed games including a Super Slime obstacle course and Nick bowling, a slime booth, costume characters and more.

Tour stops include:

  • May 24, Phoenix, Ariz. – Nickelodeon will team up with the Children’s Museum of Phoenix for an end-of-school celebration.
  • June 21, St. Louis, Mo. – The net will partner with The Magic House, St. Louis Children’s Museum for an event celebrating the first day of summer.
  • August 19, Pittsburgh, Pa. – Nick will head to Heinz Field for the Pittsburgh Steelers Family Fest.
  • September 8, Oakland, Calif. – The net will venture to California for an event in partnership with After-School All-Stars, the Oakland Athletics and the Oakland A’s Community Fund.
  • September 15, Brooklyn, N.Y. – Nickelodeon is once again teaming up with Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City’s Race for the Kids for a slime-filled and fitness-packed celebration.

On Sept. 29, Nickelodeon will commemorate its 15th annual Worldwide Day of Play celebration when the network will once again suspend programming across Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Nicktoons, TeenNick and NickMusic, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. (ET/PT), in order to encourage kids to go outside and get active. Worldwide Day of Play is part of Nickelodeon’s global ongoing health and wellness efforts and continues the network’s legacy of promoting positive messages to its viewers.
