For 2015, Disney Channel is the #1 cable TV network in Total Viewers (1.234 million) in Total Day measurement, a first for the channel and the end of Nickelodeon’s long-running streak. Disney Channel also delivered its 5th straight yearly win in Kids 6-11 (423,000/1.8 rating), 7th consecutive yearly win in Tweens 9-14 (406,000/1.7 rating) and tied for #1 in Kids 2-11 (1.6 rating). The success was leveraged by the premieres of the Disney Channel Original Movies “Descendants” and “Teen Beach 2” and the Disney Junior primetime movie “The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar” – the year’s Top 3 most watched telecasts in Total Viewers across all kids cable TV networks – and the series launches of “BUNK’D” and “K.C. Undercover.”

Disney Channel towered over runner-up Nickelodeon by its largest margin on record in Tweens 9-14 (+92% – 406,000 vs. 212,000) and by its 2nd-largest margin ever in Kids 6-11 (+29% – 423,000 vs. 328,000).

In Primetime, Disney Channel was a Top 5 cable TV network for the 13th year in a row in Total Viewers (#5 – 1.7 million), and among key kid demographics, was #1 for the 11th-consecutive year in Kids 2-11 (871,000/2.2 rating), 13th-straight year in Kids 6-11 (691,000/2.9 rating) and 15th year running in Tweens 9-14 (627,000/2.6 rating).

  • Disney’s “Descendants” (7/31/15, 8:00 – 10:01 p.m.) was the year’s #1 cable TV telecast across major youth Kids 2-11 (6.2 million/15.8 rating), Kids 6-11 (4.9 million/20.7 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (4.4 million/18.1 rating) and the #1 cable TV movie in Total Viewers (12.2 million).
  • “Descendants” is the #5 original movie in cable TV history in Total Viewers – giving Disney Channel the historical record of 6 of the Top 7 original cable movies ever – the #6 cable TV telecast of all time across Kids 2-11, Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14 and was the #1 cable TV movie in close to 3 years in Adults 18-49 (3.1 million/2.4 rating).
  • Teen Beach 2” (6/26/15, 8:00 – 9:55 p.m.) was the #2 cable TV telecast of the year in Kids 2-11 (4.1 million/10.5 rating), Kids 6-11 (3.4 million/14.3 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (3.0 million/12.3 rating) and the #2 cable TV movie in Total Viewers (8.1 million).
  • ”The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar” (11/22/15, 7:00 – 7:55 p.m.) ranked as the #1 primetime cable TV telecast of 2015 in Kids 2-5 (1.7 million/11.1 rating) – and #2 overall in the target demographic – and was the #1 animated telecast across kid cable-TV networks amongTotal Viewers (6.1 million), Adults 18-49 (2.1 million/1.6 rating) and Kids 2-11 (3.0 million/7.7 rating)
  • Overall, Disney Channel delivered the Top 6 telecasts across kids cable TV networks in Total Viewers, the Top 6 cable TV telecasts in Kids 2-11, Top 5 in Kids 6-11 and Top 10 in Tweens (Top 5 listed):

24-Hour Disney Junior channel — 2015

With record highs, the 24-hour Disney Junior channel ranked as the #1 preschool-dedicated TV network in Total Day for the 3rd year in a row in Total Viewers (533,000), across target Kids 2-5 (241,000/1.6 rating), Girls 2-5 (128,000/1.7 rating) and Women 18-49 (106,000), towering over Nick Jr. and Sprout by all-time high margins.

  • The premiere ofDisney Junior’s animated series “Goldie & Bear” on the 24-hour Disney Junior channel (11/11/15, 6:30 – 6:55 p.m.) ranked as the #1  highest-rated preschooler series debut of 2015 in Kids 2-5 (571,000/3.7 rating), while its launch on Disney Channel’s Disney Junior block (11/11/15, 9:30 – 9:55 a.m.) was the #1 preschooler series debut in Total Viewers (1.646 million) and Adults 18-49 (589,000/0.5 rating).
  • For the year, the channel aired the Top 9 series across preschooler networks in Total Viewers and Kids 2-5 (Top 5 below):
  • Disney Junior channel surpassed Nick Jr. by record setting levels, across the board: Total Viewers (+81% – 533,000 vs. 295,000), Kids 2-5 (+76% – 241,000 vs. 137,000), Girls 2-5 (+75% – 128,000 vs. 73,000), Boys 2-5 (+77% – 113,000 vs. 64,000), and Women 18-49 (+104% – 106,000 vs. 52,000).
  • Disney Junior channel towered over Sprout by triple digits for the 3rd-consecutive year across target demos: Total Viewers (+326% – 533,000 vs. 125,000), Kids 2-5 (+363% – 241,000 vs. 52,000), Girls 2-5 (+412% – 128,000 vs. 25,000), Boys 2-5 (+319% – 113,000 vs. 27,000) and Women 18-49 (+308% – 106,000 vs. 26,000).
