Disney Channel – 1Q 2013

For 1Q 2013, Disney Channel kept its 2012 momentum, ranking as the #1 TV network on a Total Day basis for the 8th consecutive quarter in Kids 6-11 (615,000/2.6 rating – dates back to 2Q11), for the 16th straight quarter in Tweens 9-14 (544,000/2.3 rating – dates back to 2Q09) and was #1 for the 4th time in the previous 5 quarters in Kids 2-11 (2.4 rating – tie). Moreover, 1Q 2013 wrapped as the network’s most-watched 1Q on record in Total Viewers (1.77 million) and Tweens 9-14, and was the network’s 6th-most-watched quarter of all time in the demos.

Disney Channel outdelivered runner-up Nickelodeon by its 2nd-largest competitive margin ever in Kids 6-11 (+31% 615,000 vs. 468,000) and Tweens 9-14 (+71% 544,000 vs. 318,000), marking the 7th straight quarter with double- to triple-digit advantages.

In Prime, Disney Channel’s dominance as TV’s #1 network extended to 35 consecutive quarters in Kids 6-11 (1.06 million/4.5 rating) and to 58 straight quarters in Tweens 9-14 (925,000/3.9 rating), and was the #2 cable TV network in Total Viewers (2.57 million). On a monthly basis, the network’s streak extended to 98 straight months in Kids 6-11 and to 93 straight months in Tweens 9-14.

  • Led by the special event “The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex” (3/15/13, 8:00 – 9:00 p.m.), 1Q’s #1 cable TV telecast across major youth demos (#1 scripted across all TV), Disney Channel delivered the quarter’s Top 7 cable TV telecasts in Kids 2-11 (17 of Top 20), Top 10 in Kids 6-11 (23 of Top 25) and Top 9 in Tweens 9-14 (22 of Top 25). The 1-hour special was also the #1 kids’ cable TV telecast in Total Viewers (7.17 million).
  • Austin & Ally” stood as TV’s #1 series across target demos, with the network home to the Top 2 TV series in Kids 2-11 and Top 4 TV series in both Kids 6-11 and Tweens overall:

Disney Junior – 1Q 2013

Disney Junior, the daily programming block for kids age 2-7 on Disney Channel, soared to 1Q highs in Total Viewers (1.57 million), Kids 2-5 (564,000/3.5 rating), Girls 2-5 (312,000/4.0 rating) and Women 18-49 (346,000/0.5 rating). In fact, this marked the network’s 3rd consecutive year growing its first quarter audience in Kids 2-5 and Girls 2-5, and the 8th in Total Viewers.

  • Newcomer “Sofia the Firstwas crowned 1Q’s #1 cable TV series in Kids 2-5 (826,000/5.2 rating), Girls 2-5 (500,000/6.4 rating) and Boys 2-5 (326,000/4.0 rating) , and the #1 preschool cable TV series in Total Viewers (2.24 million) and Women 18-49 (451,000/0.7 rating). In fact, “Sofia the First” was the #1 cable TV series each month throughout the quarter in Kids 2-5 and Girls 2-5, and the #1 preschool cable TV series in Total Viewers and Women 18-49.
  • “Sofia the First” accounted for the Top 3 cable TV telecasts in Kids 2-5, and 7 of the Top 9 overall:
