More Than Doubles Nicktoons in Total Day in Key Demos

“Pair of Kings” and “I’m in the Band” Hit Series Highs During the Month

Lifted by key series like “Pair of Kings,” “Phineas and Ferb” and “I’m in the Band,” January 2011 ranked as Disney XD’s most-watched January in the network’s history in Total Day in Total Viewers (297,000), Kids 6-14 (156,000), Boys 6-14 (101,000), Kids 6-11 (128,000), Boys 6-11 (84,000), Tweens 9-14 (99,000) and Boys 9-14 (64,000), and now stands as the channel’s 2nd-most-watched month on record with the kid demos.

Impressively, Disney XD has increased its Total Day audience year to year for 25 consecutive months among Boys 6-14 and Boys 6-11 – currently the longest streak of its kind among kid networks.

  • Disney XD more than doubled Nicktoons in Total Day among Kids 6-11 (106% – 128,000 vs. 62,000) and Tweens 9-14 (102% – 99,000 vs. 49,000), and held significant double-digit percent advantages in Kids 6-14 (93% – 156,000 vs. 81,000), Boys 6-14 (71% – 101,000 vs. 59,000), Boys 6-11 (83% – 84,000 vs. 46,000) and Boys 9-14 (88% – 64,000 vs. 34,000).
  • Year to year, Disney XD generated across-the-board double-digit percent increases in core demos: Kids 6-14 (+17% – 156,000 vs. 133,000), Boys 6-14 (+19% – 101,000 vs. 85,000), Kids 6-11 (+22% – 128,000 vs. 105,000), Boys 6-11 (+29% – 84,000 vs. 65,000), Tweens 9-14 (+25% – 99,000 vs. 79,000) and Boys 9-14 (+25% – 64,000 vs. 51,000).

Prime
Disney XD posted all-time January highs in Prime across the board: Total Viewers (347,000), Kids 6-14 (192,000), Boys 6-14 (131,000), Kids 6-11 (156,000), Boys 6-11 (107,000), Tweens 9-14 (123,000) and Boys 9-14 (83,000), surpassing year-ago levels by huge double-digit percent margins and standing the network’s 2nd-most-watched month on record in Boys 6-14, Tweens 9-14 and Boys 9-14.

Disney XD continues to hold the longest growth streak of any kid-targeting cable network, growing its monthly audience year-to-year for the 25th consecutive month among Kids 6-11, and 23rd straight month among Boys 6-14 and Boys 6-11.

  • Disney XD also dominated Nicktoons in Prime, surpassing the key competitor by 63% among Kids 6-14 (192,000 vs. 118,000), by 47% among Boys 6-14 (131,000 vs. 89,000), by 68% among Kids 6-11 (156,000 vs. 93,000), by 49% among Boys 6-11 (107,000 vs. 72,000), by 78% among Tweens 9-14 (123,000 vs. 69,000) and by 63% among Boys 9-14 (83,000 vs. 51,000).
  • Year to year, Disney XD posted double-digit percent increases across all key demos: Kids 6-14 (+24% – 192,000 vs. 155,000), Boys 6-14 (+27% – 131,000 vs. 103,000), Kids 6-11 (+30% – 156,000 vs. 120,000), Boys 6-11 (+39% – 107,000 vs. 77,000), Tweens 9-14 (+28% – 123,000 vs. 96,000) and Boys 9-14 (+22% – 83,000 vs. 68,000).

Programming Highlights

  • On Monday, January 17, “Pair of Kings” (6:30 – 7:00 p.m.) posted series highs among Tweens 9-14 (379,000/1.6 rating) and Boys 9-14 (213,000/1.7 rating).
  • Also on Monday, January 17, “I’m in the Bandregistered series highs among its key kid demos: Boys 6-14 (386,000), Kids 6-11 (428,000), Boys 6-11 (339,000), Tweens 9-14 (382,000) and Boys 9-14 (267,000), and became the show’s No. 2 telecast of all time in Total Viewers (737,000).

Disney XD is a basic cable channel and multi-platform brand showcasing a compelling mix of live-action and animated programming for Kids age 6-14, hyper-targeting boys and their quest for discovery, accomplishment, sports, adventure and humor.
