Academy Award-Nominated® Steve Oedekerk and Keith Alcorn And Emmy-Nominated Creator Butch Hartman Bring Network’s Two Newest Nicktoons

Burbank, Calif. – Sept. 9, 2010 – Nickelodeon is giving kids two brand-new reasons to tune in to Saturday mornings with the back-to-back premieres of Planet Sheen, a new CG-animated comedy series from the creative minds of Steve Oedekerk and Keith Alcorn, and T.U.F.F. Puppy, a 2D animated comedy from Nicktoon hit-maker Butch Hartman (The Fairly OddParents), from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. (all times ET/PT) on Saturday, Oct. 2. These two new exciting shows bring even more original comedy and adventure to Nick’s already top-rated Saturday morning line-up that features SpongeBob SquarePants, The Penguins of Madagascar and Fanboy and Chum Chum.

“We are happy to bring two all-new animated series to Nickelodeon’s Saturday morning slate of hit Nicktoons,” said Brown Johnson, President, Animation, Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group. “In T.U.F.F. Puppy, the super-talented Butch Hartman spoofs the spy genre with the one two punch of a bumbling hero and moronic bad guys. In Planet Sheen, Steve Oedekerk and Keith Alcorn send everyone’s favorite goofball, Sheen Estevez, to outer space.”

Planet Sheen (11:00 – 11:30 a.m.) follows the intergalactic adventures of Sheen Guevera Estevez, the hyperactive kid from Nick’s hit TV series The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius. Planet Sheen finds Sheen stranded in outer space after he accidentally “borrows” a rocket and crash lands on the planet Zeenu, a world of limited technology that is inhabited by not-too-bright creatures and ruled by an Emperor who becomes fascinated with Sheen. Following their premieres, Planet Sheen will air regularly on Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. and T.U.F.F. Puppy at 11:30 a.m.

Planet Sheen follows Sheen Estevez as he deals with planet Zeenu’s bizarre customs and strange-looking creatures, including a jealous villain, Dorkus; a 10-foot tall, two-faced princess who has a crush on him; and Mr. Nesmith, a brainy talking chimp from the 60’s space program, who joins Sheen in his ultimate quest to return home. In every episode, Sheen lives the dream of being an out-of-this-world warrior making it his mission to teach the planet the superior ways of Earth and bring them into the 21st century – though possessing no such skills to do so.

The Planet Sheen cast includes Jeff Garcia (The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius, Back at the Barnyard) as Sheen, Bob Joles (SpongeBob SquarePants) as Mr. Nesmith, Rob Paulsen (The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius) as Doppy, Soleil Moon Frye (Punky Brewster) as Aseefa, Jeff Bennett (The Penguins of Madagascar) as Dorkus, Candi Milo (Fanboy and Chum Chum) as Princess Oom, Fred Tatasciore (Wolverine and the X-Men) as Emperor and Thomas Lennon (creator and star of Reno 911!) as Pinter. The series was created by Steve Oedekerk, creator of Nickelodeon’s hit TV and film franchises, Jimmy Neutron and Barnyard as well as Keith Alcorn (The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius) and executive produced by Oedekerk, Alcorn and Jim Hope (The George Lopez Show).

The premiere episode of Planet Sheen introduces the inhabitants of the strange and distant planet Zeenu, who are gathered together when an out of control rocketship crashes on their planet and into a house. The rocket’s hatch opens and out comes Sheen Estevez – a hyperactive, manic, eccentric, overbearing, frantic kid. The planet’s Emperor is fascinated by Sheen and thinks he is supremely intelligent and brave. However, the evil Dorkus, whose house Sheen destroyed, wants to get rid of him immediately. Sheen’s rocket is too badly damaged to fly him back to Earth, but he meets a brainy, talking chimp named Mr. Nesmith who crashed on the planet years ago and may be able to help fix his rocket.

The action-packed T.U.F.F. Puppy (11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.) centers around Dudley Puppy (voiced by iCarly’s Jerry Trainor), a gung-ho, dim-witted dog who finds himself accidentally thrust into the role of secret agent when he’s recruited by the super-secret, crime-fighting organization, T.U.F.F. (Turbo Undercover Fighting Force). He partners with Kitty Katswell, a feline superspy who is an amazing kung-fu and weapons expert. Naturally, they don’t get along, but together they protect their hometown of Petropolis and the rest of the world against the evil animal organization, D.O.O.M. (Diabolical Order of Mayhem).

In addition to iCarly’s Trainor as Dudley, T.U.F.F. Puppy includes a cast that features Grey DeLisle (The Fairly OddParents) as Kitty Katswell, Jeff Bennett (The Penguins of Madagascar) as Keswick, Daran Norris (The Fairly OddParents) as Chief and Matthew Taylor (Open Season) as Snaptrap. The series was created and is executive produced by Butch Hartman, creator of the Emmy Award-winning The Fairly OddParents and Danny Phantom.

In the first half of the T.U.F.F. Puppy premiere, “Purr-fect Partner,” Dudley Puppy is introduced to the super-secret undercover organization Turbo Undercover Fighting Force (T.U.F.F.) and his reluctant new partner, Kitty Katswell. On their latest adventure, the heroic super agents team up to stop Snaptrap, D.O.O.M.’s ill-mannered supreme leader, from enslaving all of the rats in Petropolis. Together, Dudley and Kitty make for quite an imposing crime-fighting duo. In the second half of the premiere, “Doom-mates,” Kitty Katswell’s life is in danger and it’s up to Dudley Puppy to save his crime-fighting sidekick from the villainous Chameleon.

Nickelodeon’s multi-platform efforts for T.U.F.F. Puppy and Planet Sheen include sneak peeks and promotional content that will stream on as well as Nick’s wireless partners and the premiere episode will be simulcast on Nick Mobile. Following each premiere, clips will be available via Nick’s wireless partners and full episodes will be made available for download on iTunes, Xbox and Amazon. Planet Sheen will also be made available on Playstation. Additionally, beginning Oct. 4 and Oct. 11 respectively, T.U.F.F. Puppy and Planet Sheen will launch in a dedicated category on Nick’s video-on-demand.

T.U.F.F. Puppy and Planet Sheen join Nickelodeon’s powerhouse Saturday morning block which, year-to-date, is number-one with kids 2-11, kids 6-11 and tweens 9-14. The series also joins Nick’s successful slate of animated series including its top-rated Emmy Award-winning co-production with DreamWorks Animation, The Penguins of Madagascar, Emmy Award-winning squash and stretch CG series Fanboy and Chum Chum, Emmy Award-winning The Fairly Oddparents from animation veteran Butch Hartman and pop culture phenomenon, number-one-ranked SpongeBob SquarePants. Planet Sheen will be produced by O Entertainment for Nickelodeon.
