Boomerang to “Unveil” New Weekly Franchise, NO UNDIES MONDAYS, on Oct. 9

Fun-filled and Not-so-Risqué Hourly Tribute to Showcase Classic Line-Up of Pants-less Cartoon Characters 4-5 p.m.

Boomerang, Cartoon Network’s commercial-free, all-classic animation network, has found yet another new way to spotlight its unmatched catalog of cartoon stars in a new weekly franchise featuring a catchy, if somewhat provocative title—NO UNDIES MONDAYS—premiering Monday, Oct. 9, at 4 p.m. (ET).  Great personalities from Hanna-Barbera, the dominant cartoon studio of the 1960s, ‘70s and ‘80s, will link their laughter-inspiring adventures each week for a new one-hour salute to pants-less-ness.

“Boomerang is home to some of the biggest stars in the world.  The one difference between these celebrities and the rest of Hollywood is that our characters have absolutely no problem with being caught with their pants down,” said Marc Buhaj, vice president of programming and scheduling for Boomerang and Cartoon Network.  “While most of our dapper stars accessorize extremely well with a sophisticated hat, a finely starched collar and a classic bowtie, many of them neglect to wear pants!  What better way to pay tribute to this ‘cheeky’ fashion than use it as inspiration for a weekly programming franchise that showcases cartoon stars who don’t wear pants: NO UNDIES MONDAYS.”

Many of Boomerang’s classic characters have been tapped to be featured on NO UNDIES MONDAYS for their “shortcomings,” including both well-known and somewhat obscure personalities as the following:

  • Monday, Oct. 9 — Jellystone Park’s most famous resident, “smarter than the average bear” Yogi Bear; the time-traveling purple hippopotamus, Peter Potamus, and his sidekick So So the monkey; the star-struck squid musician who longs to be in showbusiness, Squiddly Diddly; polar bear Breezly and his sinus-struggling pal, Sneezly the seal; and the slow-talking, Southern-accented, Clementine-singing dog, Huckleberry Hound.
  • Monday, Oct. 16 — New York’s bright yellow leader of Broadway alleycats, Top Cat; famed animator Tex Avery’s final character creations, Kwicky Koala and Wilfred Wolf; Cave Block #9 dwellers of the Wonderland Zoo, The Hair Bear Bunch; and the lovable little animals that wear message-bearing T-Shirts and help others in need, the Shirt Tales.
  • Monday, Oct. 23 — U.S. Marshall of the old West, Quick Draw McGraw, and his Mexican burro sidekick, Baba Looey; the precocious youngster, Augie Doggy, and his non-too-competent single parent, Doggy Daddy, who speaks like Jimmy Durante; the West’s Sherrif of Hoopen Holler, Ricochet Rabbit, and his deputy, Droop-along Coyote; the King Kong-size gorilla with a heart of gold, Grape Ape; and the Phil Silvers-sounding Hokey Wolf and his sidekick, Ding-a-ling.
  • Monday, Oct. 30 — The forever “exiting, stage left” lion who sounded like comedian Bert Lahr, Snagglepuss; Loopy De Loop, a gentleman wolf who mangled the English language in his bid to converse in a bad French accent; the best pal pair of mice, Pixie & Dixie; and the Hillbilly cat and mouse duo, Punkin Puss and Mushmouse.
