Cartoon Network & Adult Swim Ratings Highlights for February 22 – 28, 2010

CARTOON NETWORK

  • Cartoon Network’s February 2010 earned respectable prime time ratings and delivery gains vs. January 2010.  Among the network’s targeted kids 6-11, monthly prime time delivery (501,000) and ratings (2.0) grew by 5%.  Prime time delivery of kids 2-11 (757,000) also grew by 5% while ratings (1.8) grew by 6%.
  • Cartoon Network’s live-action alternative series Destroy Build Destroy (8:30 p.m.) and Dude, What Would Happen (8 p.m.) presented their respective Season 2 premieres Wednesday night (Feb. 24), ranking #1 in their timeslots among boys 6-11 on all television—both broadcast and cable.  Compared to the Season 1 averages in summer 2009, the performances earned double and triple-digit ratings and delivery growth among targeted kid demos, including kids 6-11, kids 2-11, kids 9-14, boys 6-11, boys 2-11 and boys 9-14.

Destroy Build Destroy (Wednesday, Feb. 24, 8:30 p.m.) vs. the Season 1 Summer Performance Average

  • Kids 2-11 delivery (958,000) increased by 96%, and ratings (2.3) by 92%
  • Boys 2-11 delivery (774,000) increased by 111%, and ratings (3.7) by 106%
  • Kids 6-11 delivery (696,000) increased by 68%, and ratings (2.8) by 65%
  • Boys 6-11 delivery (596,000) increased by 82%, and ratings (4.7) by 81%—#1 on all television
  • Kids 9-14 delivery (554,000) increased by 79%, and ratings (2.3) by 77%
  • Boys 9-14 delivery (470,000) increased by 87%, and ratings (3.8) by 90%

Kids 2-11 delivery (1,000,000) increased by 28%, and ratings (2.4) by 26%

Kids 6-11 delivery (703,000) increased by 8%, and ratings (2.9) by 12%
Boys 6-11 delivery (582,000) increased by 9%, and ratings (4.3) by 7%—#1 on all television

  • Cartoon Network wrapped up February 2010 with solid ratings and delivery gains among its top animated and live-action programming.  Original animated series Chowder (Thursdays, 8:30 p.m.) earned double-digit increases among key kid demos—average kids 6-11 delivery (666,000) grew by 19% and ratings (2.7) by 17%, while average kids 2-11 delivery (978,000) grew by 16% and ratings (2.4) by 14%.  Johnny Test (Wednesdays, 8 p.m.) scored even higher growth averages, with kids 6-11 delivery (807,000) and ratings (3.3) increasing by 32%, and kids 2-11 delivery (1,201,000) increasing by 34% and ratings (2.9) by 32%.  Boys demos for both animated series charted solid growth as well: delivery increased between 9% – 37%, and ratings between 7% – 34%.

ADULT SWIM

  • Capped off by last week’s performance which provided double-digit growth across all young adult demos, Adult Swim ranked #1 in February 2010 among all basic cable networks for total day delivery of adults 18-34, adults 18-24, men 18-34 and men 18-24.  Compared to the same February time period last year, average Adults 18-34 delivery (498,000) increased by 10%, men 18-34 delivery (292,000) grew by 8% and adults 18-24 delivery (272,000) grew by 1%.
  • Week #4 of February 2010 charted Adult Swim ratings and delivery growth between 11% and 33%.  Adults 18-34 delivery (530,000) grew by 20%, adults 18-24 delivery (292,000) grew by 12%, men 18-34 delivery (295,000) grew by 18% and men 18-24 delivery (168,000) grew by 12%.
  • Among Adult Swim original programming, the Season 5 premiere of Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! (Sunday, 12:30 a.m.) earned significant double-digit ratings and delivery increases across all targeted demos.  Adults 18-34 delivery (562,000) grew by 26%, adults 18-24 delivery (275,000) grew by 13%, men 18-34 delivery (359,000) grew by 57% and men 18-24 delivery (203,000) grew by 62%.

CARTOON NETWORK

• With overall weekly delivery gains across all kid demos vs. the previous four weeks—kids 6-11 up 4%, kids 2-11 up 2% and kids 9-14 up 6%—Cartoon Network scored particularly strong ratings and delivery increases on Thursday night with animated episodes of Johnny Test (8 p.m.) and Chowder (8:30 p.m.).  Compared to the same time period last year, a brand new episode of Johnny Test earned 72% delivery improvement among kids 6-11 (815,000), 42% improvement among kids 2-11 (1,226,000) and 45% delivery improvement among kids 9-14 (528,000).  An encore episode of Chowder followed, charting 27% delivery growth among kids 6-11 (670,000), 5% growth among kids 2-11 (1,022,000) and 22% growth among kids 9-14 (450,000).

ADULT SWIM

• Adult Swim once again ranked #1 for the week among all ad-supported cable networks for total day delivery of adults 18-34, adults 18-24, men 18-34 and men 18-24.  Delivery among adults 18-34 (504,000) grew by 12%, delivery among men 18-34 (291,000) grew by 6% and delivery of adults 18-49 (690,000) grew by 16%.
• An all-new episode of Adult Swim’s original series Aqua Teen Hunger Force (Sunday, 12 a.m.) earned solid delivery gains among key demos compared to the same time period last year.  Aqua Teen Hunger Force’s delivery of adults 18-34 (764,000) improved by 29%, adults 18-24 delivery (422,000) improved by 52%, men 18-34 (421,000) improved by 17% and men 18-24 (233,000) improved by 27%.
• Across the third week of February 2010, Adult Swim telecasts—including Family Guy, Robot Chicken, The Venture Bros. and Aqua Teen Hunger Force—accounted for 21 of the top 50 telecasts of the week on ad-supported basic cable among adults 18-34, more than any other cable network.

Friday 2/5 Cable Ratings: iCarly, Big Time Rush, Star Wars The Clone Wars, Ben 10 Alien Force, Johnny Test

The new episode of iCarly at 8 p.m. ET on Nickelodeon scored 4.839 million total viewers, 2.9/5 household rating, 0.8/3 adults 18-49, 3.4/15 teens 12-17 and 6.8/25 kids 2-11.  The episode is down slightly from the previous week’s new episode.

Following iCarly at 8:30 p.m. ET was a new episode of Big Time Rush with 3.727 million viewers, 2.3/4 household rating, 0.6/2 adults 18-49, 2.1/9 teens 12-17 and 5.4/19 kids 2-11.

On Cartoon Network:

8 p.m. Johnny Test: 1.668 million viewers, 1.0/2 HH, 0.3/1 A18-49, 2.6/9 K2-11
