Nickelodeon 3Q 2002 Ratings Highlights
Nickelodeon has finished Third Quarter 2002–its most-watched quarter ever with total viewers–as the number-one basic cable network among total viewers and kids 2-11 in total day, extending its position at the top spot to seven years (28 consecutive quarters). According to Nielsen Media Research for 3Q ’02 (7/1/02-9/29/02), Nickelodeon recorded its biggest audience levels for a quarter ever, delivering 1.8 million total viewers on a 24-hour basis–+6% over its prior-year average and +38% ahead of number-two-ranked Lifetime Television (1.3 million total viewers).

“Jimmy Neutron” is Nickelodeon’s Highest-Rated Premiere Ever
Drawing a third of all kids watching cable TV last Friday night and placing first with kids among broadcast and basic-cable television, The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius, raked in record ratings for its Friday, Sept. 6, 8:30 p.m. (ET/PT) debut. Ranking as Nickelodeon’s highest-rated premiere in the network’s 23-year history, Jimmy Neutron easily established itself among the gallery of Nick hits that includes SpongeBob SquarePants and the network’s previous premiere record-holder, ChalkZone.

Two of the most widely anticipated events in kids television, the first Rugrats spin-off series and the TV series debut of the Oscar®-nominated theatrical hit Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, will headline five new animated series to launch on Nickelodeon during the 2002-2003 season, it was announced today by Cyma Zarghami, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Nickelodeon.

“Nick on CBS” 2002-03 Season Schedule Announced
With changes afoot next season in the Saturday-morning TV landscape, Nickelodeon–the number-one entertainment brand for kids–will broaden its offerings and introduce a new programming block for The CBS Television Network’s Saturday-morning children’s schedule, it was announced today by Cyma Zarghami, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Nickelodeon. Beginning in September 2002, kids will get more of their favorite Nick shows on CBS on Saturday mornings –including The Wild Thornberrys and Hey Arnold!–as some of Nickelodeon’s most popular animated series with kids 2-11 make their broadcast television debut. The new series being added to the schedule will be combined with the established Nick Jr. preschool favorites to serve a wider kids 2-11 audience on CBS’s Saturday mornings.
