Nickelodeon closed the week (8/16/10-8/22/10) as basic cable’s number-one network in total day with kids 2-11(3.6/1.3 million) and total viewers (2.4 million). The net was also up double-digits for the week with kids 6-11 (+13%) and tweens 9-14 (+17%). Nick’s weekly win was driven by a solid performance by Big Time Rush’s (Friday, August 20, 8 p.m. ET/PT) hour-long TV movie “Big Time Concert,” which drew 3.3 million total viewers and averaged a 5.4/1.9 million K2-11, 7.0/1.5 million K6-11, and 6.0/1.3 million T9-14.

The premiere of Big Time Rush’s one-hour finale, “Big Time Concert,” scored 3.342 million viewers, coming in behind new episodes of The Suite Life on Deck (4.026 million) and Wizards of Waverly Place (3.746 million) in total viewers. With kids 2-11, Big Time Rush was first with a 4.7/19, followed by Suite Life with a 4.6/20 and Wizards with 4.3/17. The teens 12-17 demo had Suite Life first (3.4/18), Wizards second (3.3/16) and Big Time Rush third (2.6/12).

Corus Entertainment, Canada’s largest kids’ broadcaster is overflowing with new series and specials for kids and their families this August. Viewers won’t want to miss sneak peek episodes of five new shows launching on YTV this fall including Big Time Rush and Victorious starring Victoria Justice. Sunday night’s new episode of Good Luck Charlie at 8:30PM on Disney Channel was beaten slight by Nickelodeon’s encore of iCarly at 7PM in total viewers (3.154 vs. 3.184), 0.4 points better in the kids 2-11 demo (4.5 vs. 4.1), just 0.1 better in the teens 12-17 demo (2.2 vs. 2.1) and down 0.1 in the adults 18-49 demo (0.5 vs. 0.6). The Big Time Rush repeat dropped from iCarly, but Nick picked right back up at 8PM with a repeat of VICTORiOUS.

Nickelodeon closes the quarter with its biggest second quarter performance ever with total viewers (P2+) in the network’s history and its 61st straight quarter as the top basic cable network with kids 2-11 and total viewers—the longest run of its kind. Nick also claims basic cable’s top spot in total day with kids 2-11 and persons 2+ for 2Q10. According to Nielsen Media Research (3/29/10-6/27/10), Nickelodeon averaged 2.2 million total viewers; a 3.4/1.2 million K2-11; a 3.0/649,000 K6-11; and 2.3/491,000 T9-14 for the quarter.
