EUGENE'S BIKE 1B Arnold accidentally wrecks Eugene's new bike. He tries to fix it, but forgets the brake cable and Eugene crashes--wrecking the bike again. From there, the more Arnold tries to fix things, the worse things get! THE LITTLE PINK BOOK CATASTROPHE!! 2A Helga's journal full of love poems about Arnold has fallen into Arnold's and Gerald's hands! Now the boys are determined to find out who wrote the poems. And Helga's determined to stop them! FIELD TRIP 2B On a field trip to the aquarium, Arnold can't wait to see Lockjaw, the infamous "terror of the deep." But Lockjaw turns out to be an old tortoise with a graffiti-covered shell--and he needs Arnold's help. ARNOLD'S HAT 3A Helga has a secret shrine to Arnold in her closet, and the centerpiece is Arnold's hat. But Arnold really misses his hat, since it was a gift from his parents. Now Helga has a tough choice to make. THE STOOP KID 3B Arnold has to retrieve a football from the lair of the Stoop Kid--a bully who, according to neighborhood legend, pounds anyone who sets foot upon his domain. But what if the legend is wrong? HELGA'S MAKEOVER 4A When Rhonda snubs Helga by not inviting her to a makeover party, Helga gives herself her own makeover. And when she crashes Rhonda's party, it's every girl for herself! THE OLD BUILDING 4B Arnold gets caught between his loyalty to his Grandma and a promise to help his pal Ernie over the demolition of an old theater. How can he keep everybody happy? SIXTH GRADE GIRLS 5A Arnold and Gerald are in luck--they're going to the school dance with Connie and Maria, a pair of sixth grade "older women." But look out--here come their jilted boyfriends! THE BASEBALL 5B Arnold goes to see the last baseball game his idol, Mickey Kaline, will ever play. He even catches Kaline's home-run ball. Arnold intends to keep his prize, until he discovers the ball would mean even more to somebody else. HEAT 6A There's a heat wave in the city. Arnold and Gerald can take the heat, they can take the stress, but when the Jolly Olly ice cream man hikes up his prices, it's the last straw! SNOW 6B It's a snow day and school is closed!!! Arnold is on his way to snowball fights, sledding, building snowmen and a big hockey game--until he sees what the storm has done to Grandpa. OPERATION: RUTHLESS 7A Time for the annual cheese festival--a perfect chance for Arnold to get up the nerve to speak to the girl of his dreams, Ruth McDougal. But when Helga finds out, it's time for "Operation: Ruthless"! THE VACANT LOT 7B Arnold and the gang clean up a vacant lot so that they can have a baseball field, but when the neighborhood adults find out about it, they've got their own ideas for the newly cleared space. THE LIST 8A Having fun is hard work! Arnold's plan for the "ultimate Saturday"--doing all his favorite things in a single afternoon--gets off on the wrong foot when he sleeps late. And it only goes downhill from there. THE HAUNTED TRAIN 8B On a boring summer night, Grandpa tries to liven things up by telling a story about haunted Train Number 25, which comes back to Earth on the anniversary of its last ride. MUGGED 9A When Arnold gets mugged for his bus pass, he decides it's time to take action! Grandma teaches him karate, but his new skills go to his head, and he has to learn the hard way that power and responsibility go hand in hand. ROUGHIN' IT 9B Grandpa takes Arnold and Gerald camping "the old fashioned way," to teach them basic survival skills. Meanwhile, Helga and her father are camping in high-tech style, right next door. DOOR 16 10A What's up with the mysterious Mr. Smith, who lives behind door 16? He has a private bathroom and takes all his meals alone. Maybe the answer lies in the package that arrives for him . . . ARNOLD AS CUPID 10B Boarder Oskar Kokoshka moves in with Arnold when Susie throws him out of their apartment. Arnold resolves to get them back together so he can have his life back. BENCH WARMER 11A Arnold has trouble with the basketball coach and his favored son until he teaches them both a lesson in Zen and the Art of Free-throw Shooting, as well as the meaning of teamwork. COOL JERK 11B Arnold becomes friends with "cool" Frankie G., but his new friend only succeeds in getting him into trouble. DAS SUBWAY 12A When a movie lets out late, Arnold and the gang have no choice but to take the subway home. Arnold convinces them everything will be okay, but then the adventure really begins. WHEEZIN' ED 12B Arnold and the gang set out to find the hidden treasure of the mysterious "Wheezin' Ed" on Elk Island. But when they get there, they find something they never expected .... TUTORING TORVALD 13A Torvald, the meanest, toughest kid in Arnold's math class, needs a tutor for the big math test on Friday--and guess who gets the assignment! Now Arnold's future depends on Torvald's grade. GERALD COMES OVER 13B Gerald convinces Arnold to let him spend the night in the boarding house. But Arnold worries about introducing Gerald to his extended "family," the sometimes eccentric boarders. PIGEON MAN 14A Arnold takes one of his sick pigeons to the mysterious Pigeon Man, who miraculously cures the bird. To thank him, Arnold convinces the Pigeon Man to come down off his roof and walk around the old neighborhood. THE SPELLING BEE 14B Arnold and Helga get to represent the school in the city-wide spelling bee. Arnold has serious plans for the $500 prize money, but Helga just wants the cash to live up to her near-perfect sister, Olga. OLGA COMES HOME 15A Helga's older sister, Olga, comes home from college--much to Helga's annoyance--and quickly sucks up all of her parents' attention. But Helga has a plan to spoil the show for Olga. SALLEY'S COMET 15B Arnold and Gerald have sent away for a telescope to see Salley's Comet. But when it arrives, they can't even see the comet--the city's too bright! Now, they just have to get everyone to turn off the lights. ABNER COMES HOME 16A Arnold's pet pig, Abner, escapes one night while Arnold is sleeping. Arnold tries everything to find his beloved pet, until he hits on the perfect solution: Lure the prodigal pig home again. THE SEWER KING 16B When Arnold drops Grandpa's prized pocket watch down a hole in the street, he ends up in a strange subterranean world, ruled by the self-proclaimed King of the Sewers--who intends to keep the watch. FALSE ALARM 17A Eugene is falsely accused of pulling a fire alarm. Arnold becomes Eugene's advocate before the student jury, who all want to wrap up the case quickly before Wrestlemania begins. WORLD RECORDS 17B Arnold is hooked on the "Book of World Records," so he and Gerald set out to set a world record of their own--by baking the world's biggest pizza puff. MAGIC SHOW 18A The Great Arnoldini gives a magic show and makes Helga disappear. But Helga decides to take the trick a step further and sneak out of the box, making everyone believe she has disappeared for real. TWENTY-FOUR HOURS TO LIVE 18B When Arnold accidentally beans Harold in a baseball game, the bully gives Arnold 24 hours to live. Now Helga's taking it upon herself to yell out the impending countdown all day and night. PART TIME FRIENDS 19A Arnold and Gerald both get jobs working for Mrs. Vitello in her flower shop. But when Mrs. Vitello hurts her back, she needs the boys to run the business--and she asks Gerald to be in charge. RUNAWAY FLOAT 19B Arnold designs a fantastic float for the City Day Parade, but the school has no money to build it. Helga convinces her father to be the float's sponsor, but can Arnold bear to pay the price for the help? ARNOLD'S CHRISTMAS 20A/B When Arnold draws Mr. Hyunh's name in the boarding house's Secret Santa game, he decides to make it the most special Christmas ever for the lonely boarder, by trying to reunite Mr. Hyunh with his long-lost daughter. Season: 2 HELGA'S BOYFRIEND 21A Imagine a romantic triangle between Helga, Stinky, and Arnold! Helga hires Stinky as her boyfriend to make Arnold jealous. But the plan backfires, and now Stinky is getting help from Arnold to win Helga back! CRUSH ON TEACHER 21B Miss Slovak is sick, and Arnold has a major crush on Miss Felter, the substitute teacher. But what will he do now that Gerald has found out that Miss Felter has a major crush on HIM?? HALL MONITOR 22A Hall monitor is a big responsibility. So when Helga passes the job down to Phoebe, she also gives Phoebe a crash course in How To Be Tough. But Phoebe learns the lesson a little too well. HAROLD'S BAR MITZVAH 22B It's time for Harold's Bar Mitzvah, but where is Harold? Nervous about the responsibilities of his faith, he panics and runs away. Can Arnold convince Harold that he has what it takes to be Jewish? COACH WITTENBERG 23A Clear the lanes! Helga's bowling against Arnold and Gerald! The stakes are high, so the boys bring in Coach Wittenberg to help with their game. But that only makes things worse. FOUR-EYED JACK 23B Arnold and Gerald stumble upon an old pair of eyeglasses which once belonged to a deceased boarder named Four-Eyed Jack. Now they're on a ghost hunt through the boarding house, and there's no turning back. TOUR DE POND 24A The boys race motorized boats against a snooty blue-blooded kid in the city park pond tournament. TEACHER'S STRIKE 24B The teachers are on strike, so there's no school! Arnold and Gerald are totally psyched--until they find out they'll have to make up the missed days in summer school. Suddenly, it's time for action! BIO-SQUARE 26A Arnold and Helga conduct their own "Biosphere" experiment--secluded together in a greenhouse in Arnold's backyard for 24 hours. PARTNERS 26B When the legendary musical duo of Dino and Don Spumoni split up, they each move into the boarding house (unbeknownst to the other). It's up to Arnold and Gerald to restore harmony in the house. BIG SCOOP 27A Arnold and Helga are editors of competing school newspapers. HAROLD'S KITTY 27B Harold softens when he finds a lost cat and then refuses to give it back to its rightful owner. Arnold eventually persuades Harold to give up the kitty. ARNOLD SAVES SID 28A After Arnold saves Sid from injury, Sid devotes himself to paying Arnold back with unending kindness. HOOKEY 28B Arnold and Gerald play hooky but their day is ruined by their fear of being found out. RANSOM 29A When Timberly's Barney-type doll is kidnapped, Gerald and Arnold track it down. MS. PERFECT 29B A "perfect" new classmate is tormented by Helga (and the other girls), but eventually she's accepted by all. MONKEY BUSINESS 30A After being scratched by an organ grinder's monkey, Helga is convinced that her days are numbered. BIG CAESAR 30B Arnold and Gerald attempt to catch the biggest (and most legendary) fish in the city pond. HIGH LIFE 31A Gerald gets in over his financial head selling a sure-fire product. BEST FRIENDS 31B Rhonda and Nadine's friendship is on the rocks. Arnold, the good guy, gets caught in the cross-fire. EUGENE'S PET 32A After Eugene's pet fish is accidentally killed by Arnold's yo-yo, Arnold vows to get unlucky Eugene a pet that will endure. LONGEST MONDAY AKA "TRASH CAN DAY" 32B Arnold and Gerald must make it through the traditional day of hazing fourth graders. MUD BOWL 33A Arnold and the rest of his fourth grade friends play the seemingly unbeatable fifth graders in touch football. In the end, the fourth grade smarts win out over the brute strength of the fifth graders. GERALD MOVES OUT 33B Gerald, the middle child in his family, is feeling so neglected that he moves into Arnold's boarding house. He learns that independent life isn't all that it's cracked up to be. FREEZE FRAME 34A Arnold and Gerald catch a suspicious man on film and they follow him from clue to clue. PHOEBE CHEATS 34B In an effort to win a class poetry contest, Phoebe (uncharacteristically) copies a poem from a book. Thereafter, she is haunted by her guilty conscience and the imagined voice of her trophy. HELGA'S LOVE POTION-3D 35A Helga experiences a day free of her love/hate obsession with Arnold. Strangely enough, she discovers that the obsession is what fuels her passion and creativity and that, ultimately, it's a part of who she is. GERALD'S SECRET 35B When Gerald reveals he can't ride a bike, Arnold helps him overcome his fear and humiliation. CHINESE CHECKERS 36A Arnold trains grandpa to take on his old Chinese checkers nemesis, Robby Fisher. QUANTITY TIME 36B Miriam decides to visit her mother after learning that Big Bob and Helga are on vacation at the same time. Now father and daughter must spend some "quantity time" together. The rocky week ends with them "bonding" over their hatred for a bad musical. THE BIG EAT OFF 37A Like his grandfather before him, Arnold competes in the annual block party eating contest. After intense training, Arnold goes stomach to stomach with the area eating legend Seymour, "The Disposal," in a final showdown. RHONDA'S GLASSES 37B Image-conscious Rhonda fails the eye test and gets glasses. Immediately, she is labeled a geek and is forced to hang out with the geeky kids. SAVE THE TREE 38A After the kids find out that Big Bob is planning on cutting down "Mighty Pete," the oldest tree in the neighborhood, Arnold organizes a campaign to save the tree. In a showdown with Big Bob, Arnold pleads his case and saves Mighty Pete. NEW TEACHER 38B Mr. Simmons, a kind, innovative, and inspiring man, is accepted by Arnold and the rest of the class as their new teacher--but only after they're tormented by a very mean substitute. EUGENE GOES BAD 39A Eugene becomes disillusioned about life after learning that his favorite movie action hero doesn't do his own stunts. Arnold helps him out of his funk. WHAT'S OPERA? 39B Arnold and the gang go on a class trip to the opera and have grand, musical dreams of their own. ARNOLD'S VALENTINE 25A/B It's Valentine's Day at school, and things are getting complicated for Arnold. He's having dinner with Ruth and Helga on the same night--but he doesn't know it's with Helga, and Ruth doesn't know it's with him! OSKAR GETS A JOB 41B Arnold is instrumental in persuading Oskar to actually get off his butt and get a temporary job. CURLY SNAPS 42A When Curly gets enraged after a minor playground mix-up, he locks himself in the principal's office and refuses to come out. PRE-TEEN SCREAM 42B Phoebe's secret crush on a pop star is revealed when she wins a contest to spend an evening with him and persuades Helga to come along. STINKY GOES HOLLYWOOD 43A Stinky's simple life changes after he becomes the surprise new spokesman for Ya-hoo soda. OLGA GETS ENGAGED 43B Olga brings home her surprise fiancée, Doug LeSham, a charming pathological liar, who easily wins over everyone except Helga. CRABBY AUTHOR 44A When the class writes a report on their favorite authors, Arnold seeks out his favorite author, who turns out to be quite the opposite of her sweet and sentimental books. RICH KID 44B A rich kid joins Arnold's PS 118 class. Arnold and the gang convince him to forget the rigid schedule his mother makes him follow and loosen up for a day. HELGA BLABS ALL 45A While feeling the effects of laughing gas, Helga leaves a confessional message of love on Arnold's phone machine. Now she just has to get into the boarding house in order to erase that message. HAROLD THE BUTCHER 45B After Harold shoplifts some meat from the butcher shop, he is "sentenced" to working off his punishment in the store. It turns out that Harold realizes he's found his calling and that he wants to be a butcher. ARNOLD BETRAYS IGGY 46A After Arnold accidentally reveals super-cool Iggy's secret, the entire school makes fun of Iggy. Iggy is furious with Arnold, who tries to make it up to him. HELGA AND THE NANNY 46B Big Bob hires a nanny for Helga. Helga beats the nanny at her own game and forces her to leave. DANGEROUS LUMBER 47A Arnold becomes a hot (and dangerous) hitter. He keeps on injuring people every time he swings the bat. Afraid of hurting people, Arnold refuses to play ball until his hero, Mickey Kaline, helps him out. MR. HYUNH GOES COUNTRY 47B Arnold and Gerald manage the career of the most unlikely country-and-western singer: Mr. Hyunh. (His singing voice is provided by none other than Randy Travis.) ARNOLD'S ROOM 48A Arnold "lends" Sid his room for one evening but the arrangement backfires when Sid keeps on borrowing the room. HELGA VS. BIG PATTY 48B Patty, the big sixth grade bully, overhears Helga making fun of her and challenges her to a fight. Arnold, the diplomat, tries to talk Patty out of the fight. CAREER DAY 49A All the kids are paired with adults with interesting jobs, except Arnold who has to spend the day trapped in the freezer of an ice cream truck with the psychotic "Jolly-Olly Man." HEY HAROLD 49B When Harold discovers that girls are okay, he befriends Big Patty and realizes that he likes her. Because of what everyone might think, Harold finds himself in a dilemma of whether to publicly be Patty's friend or not. He soon concludes that his new "girl" friend is more important than what people think. CASA PARADISO 50A Grandpa becomes tired of dealing with the boardinghouse and decides to sell. Arnold has to convince him how important it is for everyone to remain in the boardinghouse, and what they'd lose if it was sold. GERALD'S TONSILS 50B Gerald has his tonsils removed before a big concert and must come to grips with the fact that his voice has changed. PHOEBE TAKES THE FALL 51A Phoebe agrees to take a "dive" so that Helga can win a competition. She later regrets her decision and a contrite Helga ultimately makes sure Phoebe takes the prize. THE PIG WAR 51B The boys engage in a recreation of a historical battle, only this time their prized pig is in jeopardy of losing his life. BEST MAN 52A The Coach wants to remarry Tish and asks Arnold to be his best man. Along the way, Arnold teaches the Coach a thing or two about love and sacrifice. COOL PARTY 52B Rhonda has a party and only invites the "cool" kids. Arnold attends, but realizes that her party is only for snobs. He leaves and has his own party with his buddies, and eventually Rhonda realizes that "geek" is cooler than "cool." SID'S REVENGE 53A A wrongly accused Sid seeks voodoo-doll-style revenge against Principal Wartz, and then mistakenly thinks he killed him. ROLLER COASTER 53B Eugene wants to ride with the gang, but they all think he's a jinx and won't go with him. Arnold decides to break the cycle of pain and rides with Eugene--but then they get stuck. GRANDPA'S BIRTHDAY 54A Grandpa thinks he's going to die soon because no one in his family has ever made it past the age he's going to turn. He prepares to die, and Arnold has to convince him that life is still worth living. ROAD TRIP 54B Helga and Miriam get stuck on the road together with no money. They get to know one another and Miriam saves the day when she wins a mechanical bull-riding competition. ARNOLD & LILA 55A Helga, lost in a love reverie, writes ARNOLD LOVES HELGA on a wall, but changes her name to LILA when the kids approach. Lila thinks that Arnold loves her until he explains the mistake. When Arnold ends up actually falling for Lila, she has to "break up" with him. GRAND PRIX 55B The kids all try to outdo each other in a city-wide go-cart race. GIRL TROUBLE 57A Arnold tells Grandpa he's tired of dealing with Helga's nonsense. Grandpa tells Arnold a story about a girl he had to deal with when he was a kid, who treated him the same way. She turns out to be Grandma. SCHOOL DANCE 57B Arnold is in charge of finding entertainment for the school dance and chooses Dino Spumoni. The kids think it's a mistake until Dino belts out his old hits. HELGA'S SHOW 58A Helga does a stand-up routine at a school function, and proceeds to insult her friends. They're offended, prompting her to change her act to a more friendly, gentle routine. But when she performs the new act, everyone thinks it's boring. In the end, she goes back to being her usual insulting self. THE FLOOD 58B When a flood strands the kids at school overnight, their little society slowly unravels--by midnight it's "Lord of the Flies" at P.S. 118. In the end, they band together like a real tribe to save Mr. Simmons. ARNOLD'S THANKSGIVING 56A/B Arnold is fed up with the bickering amongst the boarders, and sets out to find the true meaning of the holiday. SCHOOL PLAY 59A/B A half-hour special. Mr. Simmons directs the fourth graders in a production of Romeo and Juliet. Helga plots to gain the role of Juliet so she can kiss Arnold as Romeo in the final scene. ARNOLD'S PARENTS 60A/B The question is answered. Season: 4 EUGENE'S BIRTHDAY 61A When Arnold is responsible for two of Eugene's birthday parties being big flops, Eugene takes it in stride and chalks it up to his usual round of bad luck. Arnold attempts to throw Eugene a third party, but Eugene decides not to go so the party won't be jinxed. When everyone shows up except Eugene, the party is a disaster, but Eugene is happy to learn that Arnold is the jinx and not him. STINKY'S PUMPKIN 61B Stinky feels that he's a failure at everything he does until Arnold helps him discover that he's the best pumpkin grower in town. DINNER FOR FOUR 62A After winning coupons to a fancy French restaurant, Helga attempts to prove to Arnold that she is more sophisticated than Lila. But after wooing Arnold, Gerald, and Phoebe with her social graces, Helga discovers that she has taken them to the wrong French restaurant and her coupon is no good. She attempts to use her cunning ways to get out of paying the bill, but only gets in more trouble. PHOEBE SKIPS 62B Helga is devastated when Phoebe is skipped to the 6th grade. With Phoebe gone, Helga desperately searches for a new shadow to take up the slack. Phoebe, on the other hand, feels liberated and thinks it's great until fellow classmates take full advantage of her fourth grade naiveté. FULL MOON 63A When the gang decides to "moon" Principal Wartz, Arnold thinks that it's a bad idea, but ends up inadvertently getting caught and taking the blame. Everyone worries that Arnold will snitch. MS. PATAKI, STUDENT TEACHER 63B A student teacher is sent to PS 118 and it's none other than Helga's big sister Olga, who just wants to spend more time with her baby sister. When well-meaning Olga shares all of Helga's embarrassing childhood stories with her classmates, Helga tries everything she can to get her sister as far away from her as possible. BIG GINO 64A Sid gets in over his head when he does business with the local kid loan shark, Big Gino. When Big Gino forces Sid to work for him, Arnold tries to save Sid from getting into more trouble, but turns Big Gino against him in the process. Now Sid has to decide who's really his friend. JAMIE O IN LUV 64B Gerald's big brother, Jamie O, falls for a girl and suddenly starts being nice to Gerald. When Gerald learns that the girl is just using Jamie, he's faced with the dilemma of whether to tell his brother and risk his acting mean again, or to keep quiet and continue receiving the perks. Arnold helps him decide the right course of action. BEEPER QUEEN (A.K.A. PATAKI ROLE REVERSAL) 65A Big Bob sprains his back and the usually incompetent Miriam volunteers to take over his business affairs. Helga thinks this is great, since now her mom seems happier and more motivated to make her lunches and drop her off at school on time. But when Miriam takes The Beeper Emporium to new heights, she finds less time for Helga, and Helga decides that she just wants her mom back. OSKAR READS 65B When Arnold discovers that Oskar has been pretending to know how to read, Arnold confronts him. First Oskar denies it, but when Ernie and Mr. Hyunh find out and bet him that he can never learn, he gets motivated to win the bet. Oskar ends up cheating, but decides that he has gone long enough without knowing how to read, and asks for Arnold's help. FRIDAY THE 13TH 66A When Wolfgang dares Arnold and the gang to break superstitions, everyone starts having bad luck. It turns out that Wolfgang and his buddies are behind the bad luck, which finally turns against Wolfgang. HEADLESS CABBIE (A.K.A. HAUNTED TAXI) 66B At a sleepover, Arnold and the boys sit around and tell scary stories. All of the stories are pretty lame until Arnold tells the tale of the "Headless Driver, the Laughing Lady and Her Little Dog." They all get spooked and decide to calm down with a little ice cream, which takes them through the park where things begins to seem a bit too familiar... HELGA'S PARROT 67A Big Bob's new parrot starts to get on his nerves, so he passes it on to Helga, who inadvertently reveals her true feelings about Arnold to the bird. When the parrot escapes and becomes close to Arnold, Helga is afraid it will repeat her confession. Now she must get the bird back before it spills her secrets. CHOCOLATE TURTLES 67B Arnold and Gerald decide to sell chocolate turtles to raise money for the club's ongoing go-cart project. Unfortunately, they receive the pre-sold boxes of candy at the same time that their favorite show comes on TV. Gerald, being totally engrossed in the show, gives his little sister, Timberly, permission to eat the turtles. After a failed attempt to whip up their own home-made turtles, Arnold and Gerald face the fact that they must tell their customers the truth. WEIGHING HAROLD (A.K.A. FAT CAMP) 68A Harold feels that he has gotten too fat, so he asks his parents to send him on a weight-off cruise. He returns fatter than ever, until Arnold helps him get back to his lovable, chubby self. LOVE AND CHEESE (A.K.A. OPERATION LILA-LESS) 68B Arnold goes all-out to win Lila's affection by taking her to the Annual Cheese Festival. Helga attempts to foil Arnold's plans, but every scheme she hatches backfires and pushes Arnold and Lila closer together. IT GIRL 69A Helga becomes the latest child fashion star and everyone loves her for her scowl and bad attitude. First she thinks it’s great, then when she feels that she has lost her individuality, she wants to quit. Bound by a legal contract, Helga tries every trick in her book to make them fire her. But when she's at her meanest, they love her even more. Finally, Arnold advises her to just try being nice. DECONSTRUCTING ARNOLD 69B The gang finally gets sick of Arnold's never-ending good advice, so they decide to stop listening to him altogether. Until each of their lives becomes total mayhem, that is, and they need Arnold to sort through the rubble. GRUDGE MATCH 70A When Arnold and Grandpa get into a fender-bender with Helga and Big Bob, they get into an argument about who's to blame. To settle the matter, Grandpa and Big Bob decide to play a round of golf, using Arnold and Helga as their caddies. POLISHING RHONDA 70B After a confrontation at PS 118 between Rhonda and Patty, both girls are sent to the same finishing school, where Rhonda feels that she has the edge over the bigger, less dainty Patty. But Patty turns out to have more social grace than Rhonda, who ends up needing Patty’s help to pass. BACK TO SCHOOL 72A Grandpa goes back to grade school to finally fulfill his dream of graduating. Everything is going great, and Grandpa is skipped all the way up to the 6th grade. But as graduation day approaches, he gets cold feet and tries to sabotage everything by hanging out with the wrong crowd. THE EGG 72B To teach his students teamwork and responsibility, Mr. Simmons gives the class an assignment to partner up and take care of an egg over the weekend. Of course, Helga rigs the selection process and gets teamed up with Arnold. To Helga's delight, they must now act like a married couple. WEIRD COUSIN 73A When Arnold's weird cousin, Arnie, comes to visit, everyone thinks he's the biggest loser--everyone except Lila, that is, the love of Arnold's life. Seeing this as yet another opportunity to win Arnold's affections, Helga convinces Arnold to pretend to be her boyfriend to make Lila jealous. Helga's plan backfires when Arnie is the one who becomes jealous and falls in love with Helga. BABY OSKAR 73B Oskar's wife Susie agrees to watch her cousin's baby, also named Oskar. When Susie gives more attention to the baby than her husband, Oskar gets jealous and becomes even more demanding than usual. But Oskar gets a chance to see just how needy he is when Susie gets called in to work and he has to watch Baby Oskar. FIGHTING FAMILIES 74A The Fighting Families Contest has come to town and two families have been selected: one from PS 118 and one from PS 119. Chocolate Boy is chosen from PS 118, but performs miserably in the preliminary run-through, so Arnold is chosen and then has to put together a family from the boarding house. No one is interested, until they discover that there are cash prizes involved. When Arnold selects Grandpa, Ernie and Mr. Hyunh, the four of them become a disorganized, bickering quartet against an elite, smart and well-oiled machine from the PS 119 team. HELGA SLEEPWALKS 74B After eating pork rinds, Helga begins to sleepwalk and ends up walking to Arnold's house. Not knowing the cause, she tries various methods to keep herself from leaving the house, but they all fail. Afraid that Arnold will catch her and discover her dark secret, Helga vows to never fall asleep again. Luckily, Phoebe discovers the culprit and comes to Helga's rescue. MONKEY MAN 75A After being saved from thugs by a mysterious, caped character named Monkey Man, Arnold tells the gang about it and then Gerald unfolds the legend of the dangerous and dark costumed character who runs through the streets yelling "Monkey Man." Having been saved by him, Arnold disagrees, and when Gerald dares him to touch the suspicious character, the two end up becoming friends. BUSES, BIKES, AND SUBWAYS 75B Out on a field trip, Harold and Helga miss the bus and get separated from the rest of the class. Left with no other choice but to make it home on their own, they travel by every possible means. Ultimately, they work together and find their way back home. SYNCHRONIZED SWIMMING 76A When Coach Wittenberg needs to form a synchronized swim team to save his job, he recruits Arnold, Gerald and the rest of the gang to compete. They all decline, thinking it to be a sport more suited for girls. But Coach Wittenberg comes up with just the right theme, and suddenly synchronized swimming is macho enough for these mini-men. GRANDPA'S SISTER 76B Grandpa's sister, Mitzi, shows up out of the blue to grace the boarding house with her presence. Everyone loves her except Grandpa, who's had a long-standing feud with her since childhood. Grandpa stops at nothing to get her to leave, but the only problem is, she owns half of the boarding house. Arnold steps in and helps them realize that they can’t even remember what they were fighting about in the first place. HELGA AS LILA 77A When Helga realizes that Arnold admires Lila for her wit and charm, she decides that the only way to get Arnold to notice her is to be like Lila. Helga goes to Lila to learn how to be nice, tell funny stories and be more complimentary. Feeling like she's learned all she needs to know, Helga sets out to put it all to practice at Rhonda's costume party. It works like a charm until Arnold accidentally calls her Lila. MR. GREEN RUNS FOR OFFICE 77B When the potholed streets in front of Mr. Green's butcher shop begin to hurt his business, Arnold helps Mr. Green run for the City Council. The people get behind Mr. Green, and he begins to feel the pressure to make them happy. As a result, he attempts to dress and talk like his opponent, which turns out to be a disaster until Arnold shows him that all he has to do is be himself. VETERAN'S DAY PARTS I & II 71A&B Arnold, Grandpa, Gerald and Gerald's dad visit a Veteran’s memorial. Both older men tell "tall" tales about their military exploits, which the boys find hard to believe. But the boys learn that the men have done something meaningful when they arrive at a memorial and discover that they were telling the truth. HELGA ON THE COUCH PARTS I & II 78A&B Helga is strongly recommended for counseling after Mr. Simmons observes her berating Arnold, arguing with her parents and punching Brainy. Helga is reluctant at first, but the therapist eventually gets her to open up--she even describes her obsession with Arnold. Ultimately, Helga learns that unrequited love is very normal and that she's actually "OK." DINO CHECKS OUT PARTS I & II 79A&B Washed-up balladeer Dino Spumoni fakes his own death in order to increase his record sales. Everyone believes he’s dead, and at the funeral, Grandpa and Arnold find out that Dino has left all his future record sales to Arnold. When Arnold discovers that Dino is very much alive, he questions "why." Dino shares his theory about how record sales soar after an artist dies, and how he wants Arnold to get the checks and bring all the cash back to him. It seems like a great plan until a phony Dino hits the scene and is a big success. BEACH STORY 80A&B By complete coincidence, Arnold and the Patakis end up at the same beach resort for summer vacation. Helga is ecstatic until Arnold meets Summer, the girl of his dreams. Then Helga switches her schemes into high gear and tries to spoil all of Arnold and Summer’s precious moments. Arnold finally catches Helga in the act and asks her to stay away. Helga can’t; especially after she overhears Summer’s plot to use Arnold to build a great sand castle so she'll win first prize--an appearance on "Babe Watch."
