Many celebrities have been taking the “ice bucket challenge” which started out as a for-all charity event but has transformed currently into one specifically for ALS.

Initially and still to some degree, the “rules” of the challenge were that someone would dump cold/ice water on their heads and nominate up to three others to do the same within 24 hours –or– they’d have to donate to charity. That made it basically a way to avoid donating to a charity.

It would seem, however, that its more-or-less transformed into a way of actually promoting the ALS charity and the celebrities are usually leaving out the part of “do it or you have to donate” which filled videos before, and are encouraging others to actually donate as well.
