The highly-anticipated premiere of the comedy series “Girl Meets World” (9:45 p.m.) delivered 5.2 million Total Viewers and ranked as the #1 series launch of 2014 among major youth demographics: Kids 2-11 (2.3 million/5.7 rating), Kids 6-11 (1.8 million/7.7 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (1.7 million/6.9 rating).

The movie and series also set viewing records after being made available on the popular WATCH Disney Channel app and iTunes on Monday, June 23. “Girl Meets World” is pacing to be the most-viewed series ever in the WATCH Disney Channel app. On iTunes, it is the most downloaded Disney Channel series preview to-date.

“Zapped” is primed to join the Tween viewing record books as well. Disney Channel has presented five of the top six movies in cable TV history and the #1 TV movie telecast among Tweens for 12-consecutive years (2002-13).

Multi-talented recording artist/actress Zendaya (“Dancing with the Stars,” “Shake It Up”) stars in Disney Channel’s upcoming comedy “KC Undercover.” Spencer Boldman stars in Disney XD’s “Lab Rats.” “Zapped” was directed by Peter DeLuise and executive-produced by Jane Goldenring, Carol Baum, Michael Prupas and Harvey Khan. The producer is Lisa Towers. Based on the popular book “Boys Are Dogs” by Leslie Margolis, the screenplay was written by Rachelle Skoretz, Matt Eddy and Billy Eddy. Aakomon “AJ” Jones is the choreographer.

“Girl Meets World,” from executive producer Michael Jacobs, tells the wonderfully funny, heartfelt stories that the nostalgic favorite ABC sitcom “Boy Meets World” is renowned for – only this time from a tween girl’s perspective. It introduces Rowan Blanchard as Riley Matthews, the tween daughter of Cory and Topanga Matthews, while Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel reprise the roles of one of television’s favorite couples. Sabrina Carpenter (“Sofia the First” and a Hollywood Records recording artist) plays Riley’s best friend, Maya Hart. August Maturo plays younger brother Auggie Matthews, Peyton Meyer plays Riley’s crush Lucas Friar and Corey Fogelmanis is Farkle, an intelligent and quirky classmate.
