Multi-talented recording artist/actress Zendaya (“Dancing with the Stars,” “Shake It Up”), headlines the comedic Disney Channel Original Movie “Zapped,” the story of Zoey, a girl whose well-ordered life is up-ended when her mother remarries and she finds herself part of a family composed of rambunctious, chaotic – and most of all – messy boys and a male dog, to boot. She finds salvation in the unlikeliest of places when she unwittingly comes into possession of a smartphone app that magically controls boys. Spencer Boldman (Disney XD’s “Lab Rats”) stars as Jackson, the one guy at school who stands apart from everyone else.

“Zapped” premieres FRIDAY, JUNE 27 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel, ushering in the premiere of the highly-anticipated “Girl Meets World” (9:45 p.m., ET/PT), a comedy series for kids and families from executive producer Michael Jacobs (“Boy Meets World”). The movie is preceded by a new episode of “Jessie” (7:30 p.m.) in which Jessie races against obstacles and the clock, in a real-time countdown, to ensure the Ross kids get to school on time.

“Zapped” also stars Chanelle Peloso (“Radio Rebel”) as Zoey’s best friend Rachel Todds; Emilia McCarthy (“Hemlock Grove”) as Taylor Dean, captain of the rival dance squad; and Adam DiMarco (“Radio Rebel”) as Adam Thompson, the eldest of Zoey’s impossible step-brothers.

The movie was directed by Peter DeLuise (“16 Wishes,” “Kyle XY”) and executive-produced by Jane Goldenring (“Radio Rebel,” “My First Mister”), Carol Baum (“Father of the Bride,” “The Good Girl”), Michael Prupas (“The Kennedys,” “Cyberbully”) and Harvey Khan (“Spooksville”). The producer is Lisa Towers (“The Christmas Choir”). Based on the popular book Boys Are Dogs by Leslie Margolis, the screenplay was written by Rachelle Skoretz with revisions by Matt Eddy and Billy Eddy. Aakomon “AJ” Jones (“Pitch Perfect”) is the choreographer.

The debut of “Girl Meets World” will be ushered in by the premiere of the Disney Channel Original Movie “Zapped” (FRIDAY, JUNE 27 8:00 p.m.) starring Zendaya.

“Girl Meets World” introduces Rowan Blanchard as Riley Matthews, the tween daughter of Cory and Topanga Matthews, while Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel reprise the roles of one of television’s favorite couples from the nostalgic favorite “Boy Meets World.” Sabrina Carpenter (“Sofia the First” and a Hollywood Records recording artist) plays Riley’s best friend, Maya Hart. August Maturo plays younger brother Auggie Matthews, Peyton Meyer plays Riley’s crush Lucas Friar and Corey Fogelmanis is Farkle, an intelligent and quirky classmate.

Made for kids and families, “Girl Meets World” tells the wonderfully funny, heartfelt stories that “Boy Meets World” is renowned for – only this time from a tween girl’s perspective. It focuses on relationships with family and friends and the important, indelible values therein, as the relatable and adventurous Riley and her bold best friend Maya traverse the twists and turns of teenage years at Manhattan’s John Quincy Adams Middle School where Riley’s dad is their History teacher. In the premiere episode, the typically studious Riley joins a homework rebellion in an attempt to be more like Maya, but it quickly leads to a rift between father and daughter.

Starting Tuesday, May 20, a remix and original version of the “Girl Meets World” theme song “Take on the World,” performed by Rowan Blanchard and Sabrina Carpenter and written by Matthew Tishler, Maria Christensen and Shridhar Solanki, will be released via digital retailers.
