Disney Channel: Total Day and Prime Highlights

For the week of August 12, 2013, Disney Channel swept Total Day for the 12th consecutive week across key Kid 2-11 (1.08 million/2.7 rating), Kid 6-11 (776,000/3.3 rating) and Tween 9-14 (619,000/2.6 rating) demos, and was the #1 cable TV network for the 5th week in a row in Total Viewers (1.88 million). Notably, Disney Channel has ranked as TV’s #1 network for over 2 years now Kids 6-11 and Tweens (114 consecutive weeks).

Disney Channel out-performed runner up Nickelodeon by at least double digits for the 93rd consecutive week in Kids 6-11 (+42% – 776,000 vs. 545,000), 95th in Tweens (+64% – 619,000 vs. 378,000) and 5th in Kids 2-11 (+10% – 1.08 million vs. 980,000).

With 1 week remaining in Summer, Disney Channel is pacing as cable TV’s #1 network in Total Day for the 2nd straight summer in Total Viewers (1.91 million), and as TV’s #1 network for the 2nd summer in a row in Kids 2-11 (1.07 million/2.7 rating), 5th in Kids 6-11 (765,000/3.2 rating) and 8th in Tweens (660,000/2.8 rating), topping Nickelodeon by double digits across the kid demos.

In Prime, Disney Channel stood as cable TV’s #1 network for the 433rd straight week in Kids 6-11 (1.08 million/4.6 rating – 8+ years) and 168th in Tweens 9-14 (844,000/3.5 rating – 3+ years), and ranked a solid #2 in Total Viewers (2.46 million), towering over “Duck Dynasty” network, A&E (2.15 million), by a considerable 14%.

  • Led by “Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel” and the 7th encore of “Teen Beach Movie” Disney Channel aired the week’s Top 3 TV telecasts in Kids 2-11, Top 20 telecasts in Kids 6-11 (47 of 50 – Top 5 below) and Top 5 in Tweens 9-14 (44 of 50 – Top 5 below):

Disney Junior Preschooler Block on Disney Channel

Disney Junior’s “Sofia the First” ranked as cable TV’s #1 series for the 4th straight week in Kids 2-5 and was the #1 preschool cable TV series for the 3rd week running in Total Viewers.

Head to head, Disney Junior exceeded Nickelodeon’s preschool block (Mon. – Fri. 7:00 – 10:00 a.m.) by a robust 34% in Total Viewers (1.79 million vs. 1.34 million), by 45% in Kids 2-5 (559,000 vs. 386,000), by 50% in Girls 2-5 (302,000 vs. 201,000) and by 9% in Women 18-49 (355,000 vs. 327,000).

For the week, the block held the week’s Top 3 cable TV series in Kids 2-5 and Girls 2-5, and the Top 4 preschool cable TV series in Total Viewers:

24-Hour Disney Junior Channel

The 24-hour Disney Junior Channel ranked as cable TV’s #1 preschool-dedicated network in Total Day for the 20th consecutive week – each week since reporting public ratings on 4/1/13 – with Kids 2-5 (222,000/1.4 rating) and Boys 2-5 (129,000/1.6 rating), and for the 19th time in the previous 20 weeks in Total Viewers (428,000). Notably, Disney Junior delivered its 2nd-most-watched week to date in Total Viewers, Kids 2-5 and Boys 2-5.

  • Disney Junior Channel topped Nick Jr. for the 20th straight week in Kids 2-5 (+22% – 222,000 vs. 182,000) and Boys 2-5 (+42% – 129,000 vs. 91,000), and for the 19th time in 20 weeks in Total Viewers (+18% – 428,000 vs. 364,000), despite being in 15.4 million fewer homes.
  • Disney Junior Channel surpassed Sprout by triple digits for the 20th week in a row in the target demos: Total Viewers (+158% – 428,000 vs. 166,000), Kids 2-5 (+222% – 222,000 vs. 69,000) and Boys 2-5 (+291% – 129,000 vs. 33,000), and by at least double digits for the 20th week running in Girls 2-5 (+151% – 93,000 vs. 37,000).
