Disney Channel: Total Day and Prime Highlights

For the week of January 14, 2013, Disney Channel once again reigned over the kids’ TV landscape, delivering a clean sweep on a Total Day basis for the 3rd consecutive week, ranking as the #1 TV network across Kids 2-11 (955,000/2.4 rating), Kids 6-11 (620,000/2.6 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (560,000/2.4 rating) and as cable TV’s #1 network in Total Viewers (1.8 million). Moreover, in Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14, Disney Channel has ranked as TV’s #1 network on a weekly basis for 84 consecutive weeks.

  • Competitively, Disney Channel towered over Nickelodeon by double digits for the 63rd consecutive week in Kids 6-11 (+52% – vs. 407,000), and the 65th week in a row in Tweens 9-14 (+95% – vs. 287,000), levying its 2nd-biggest competitive advantage ever over Nickelodeon in Tweens.
  • In Prime, Disney Channel extended its streak as the #1 cable TV network to 403 consecutive weeks in Kids 6-11 (1.1 million/4.5 rating – over 7 1/2 years) and to 139 consecutive weeks in Tweens 9-14 (952,000/4.0 rating – over 2 1/2 years), and placed a solid #2 in Total Viewers (2.5 million), outdelivering the #3 network, TBS, by a considerable 39% (vs. 1.8 million).

With one week remaining in January 2013, Disney Channel will rank as the month’s #1 most-watched cable TV network in Total Day in Total Viewers, and in major kid demos will be the #1 TV network for the 21st consecutive month in Kids 6-11 and for the 33rd in Tweens 9-14.

Overall, Disney Channel delivered the week’s Top 10 cable TV telecasts in Kids 6-11 and the Top 15 in Tweens 9-14 (Top 5 below):

Disney Junior Preschooler Block

For the week, Disney Junior, Disney Channel’s preschooler block for kids age 2-7 and their caregivers, held the week’s #1 cable TV series in Kids 2-5 with “Doc McStuffins” (717,000/4.5 rating), in Girls 2-5 with newcomer “Sofia the First” (426,000/5.4 rating) and in Boys 2-5 with “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (332,000/4.1 rating), while “Sofia the First” was the #1 preschool cable TV series in Total Viewers (2.0 million) and Women 18-49 (418,000/0.7 rating). Notably, this marked the block’s 4th straight week with the #1 cable TV series in Kids 2-5.

  • Overall, the block delivered the week’s Top 4 cable TV series in Kids 2-5, 4 of the Top 5 cable TV series in Girls 2-5 and the Top 4 preschool cable TV series in Total Viewers and Women 18-49 with “Doc McStuffins,” “Sofia the First,” “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse“ and “Jake and the Never Land Pirates“ (varying order):
