The ratings for Disney XD’s new Thursday night line-up are in (thanks to The Futon Critic) and it’s not very promising news.
A new episode of Lab Rats at 8:30pm scored a series low 478,000 total viewers (age 2+). The hit live-action series premiered on February 27 to 1.272 million total viewers where it continued to do well on Monday nights. Its previous low was on April 30 with 668,000 viewers. That’s certainly not what Disney XD wanted to see for its move to a new night.
The official series premiere of TRON: Uprising followed at 9pm with slightly more viewers: 580,000. Though, for a much-promoted new series, it too can’t be making the network all too happy.
A new Motorcity followed at 9:30pm and also hit a series low with 228,000 viewers. It too was a Monday night show for four episodes, and surprisingly, two of those Monday airings had no new lead-ins. Not a great sign either.
What’s the reason for the low numbers? Maybe the Disney XD premiere of Race to Witch Mountain from 6:30-8:30pm was low and caused the others to not be so high? Maybe the competition from Nicktoons, a new Monsuno at 8:30pm following a network premiere episode of Dragon Ball GT and The Fairly OddParents special “Fairly Idol” at 9pm, dealt a blow? It’s also a new night for the network, which has continually aired new episodes on Monday nights for quite some time now.
Either way, this isn’t a great start to a much-promoted new night of premieres. Maybe things will improve for week two?
