After Carly returns home from vacation with jungle worms, the group gets an invitation from the hit boy band One Direction to perform on the webshow, but Harry Styles gets sick from drinking Carly’s water bottle. Now they need to help Harry get well in time for their performance. Meanwhile, Spencer becomes a personal exercise trainer for a little girl.
I enjoyed the main plot of the episode, because while I’m not the biggest fan of One Direction, Gibby was pretty funny in it. Their performance at the end was solid, and Sam had some funny moments in it too. I like that Gibby played a notable part in this one to get Harry out of his slumps. It was a well-organized strategy to turn things around and save the show.
Spencer’s sub-plot, however, was pretty lacking. Not only was it weird, but the fact that it came with a rather downer of an ending and no resolution was meaningless. I don’t really find it enjoyable that he overworked her and then it just ended so bizarrely. Spencer has always had unusual plots about getting women, but this one was trashy, even moreso considering we never see the girl’s mother after Spencer meets her. Overall, it was very unpleasant to watch.
So in short, the episode wasn’t too bad. If you’re a big 1D fan, you’ll probably love it. Gibby had some nice relevance to the episode, some funny one-liners from Carly, Sam and Freddie, and a rocking performance make for a good time on this one.
