VICTORiOUS “April Fools Blank” Recap

VICTORiOUS

Tori wonders why the school doesn’t celebrate April Fools day. And that’s the most normal thing about the episode.

You have to admire the team behind Victorious. When Nickelodeon came to them about a potential April Fools episode, I bet they were expecting the usual “gang pranks each other” affair. However, Dan Schneider and his crew went completely crazy with this episode. It is impossible to recap as it isn’t a episode and mainly just a stream of consciousness.

VICTORiOUS

Anyway. The episode starts off normal enough in Sikowitz’s classroom. Tori tries to prank the class with a fake stub of her arm, but the class yawns it off. They don’t really participate in April Fools Day. Cat uncharacteristically yells at Tori to shut up and let Mr. Belding (yes, THAT one) teach. He teachers for a bit…and knocks Tori down and steals her purse. Then there’s a goat on stage. And Robbie floats away in the sky. And Drake Bell comes by and help Tori up after she falls from her chair due to Cat’s trumpet playing. And Sikowitz explodes. Yep, this is going to be a weird one.

VICTORiOUS

The rest of the episode is even stranger. Tori still wonders why the school isn’t doing anything for April Fools Day. There’s a war with Switzerland going on, and students get shot by arrows. There’s a Wizard of Oz parody with Cat as Dorothy, Tori as the Glenda, Jade as the Wicked Witch (big surprise), Robbie as the Scarecrow, Beck as the Tin Man, and Andre as the Cowardly Lion. There’s Jade being nice to Tori and tickling her. And the Dancing Lobsters from The Amanda Show make a triumphant return. Tori walks through the iCarly set with Spencer and ends up on a Match Game parody skit. And the end of the episode, The crew premiers a brand new song “Shut Up And Dance,” (with dubstep!) and all the cast joins in dance and the episode closes out Saturday Night Live style.

VICTORiOUS

As strange as this episode was, it was a lot of fun. Victoria Justice really showed her comedic talents and actually did a lot of physical comedy. The separate skits were reminiscent of All That/The Amanda Show goodness and you can tell that the cast had a really fun time filming the episode. Definitely a 1000 times better than a regular old “gang pranks each other” episode.
