LED BY VICTORIOUS AND SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS, NICKELODEON IS MAY’S TOP CABLE NET ACROSS ALL DEMOS

NEW YORK–June 1, 2011–Nickelodeon closed May as basic cable’s number-one total day network with total viewers (2.0 million), kids 2-11 (3.1/1.1 million), kids 6-11 (2.6/571,000), tweens 9-14 (1.9/407,000) and kids 2-5 (3.9/563,000). Nick’s win was driven by hit live-action series, Victorious and ratings phenomenon, SpongeBob SquarePants, which rank as the top live-action and animated series, respectively, with kids and tweens across all TV for the month. Nickelodeon also bested its closest competitor by double digits with total viewers (+31%), kids 2-11 (+24%) and kids 2-5 (+70%).

In May, Nick is home to six of the top 10 programs with kids 2-11 (#1 SpongeBob SquarePants, #2 Victorious, #4 Power Rangers, #6 Supah Ninjas, #7 T.U.F.F. Puppy, and #8 BrainSurge), five of the top 10 programs with kids 6-11 (#1 Victorious, #3 SpongeBob SquarePants, #4 Supah Ninjas, #7 BrainSurge, #8 Power Rangers), and four of the top 10 programs with tweens 9-14 (#1 Victorious, #5 Supah Ninjas, #7 SpongeBob SquarePants, #9 iCarly). Nickelodeon’s preschool programming block (Mon-Fri 9 a.m.-2 p.m. ET/PT) boasts four of the top five preschool programs for the month (#1 Bubble Guppies, #2 Team Umizoomi, #3 Dora the Explorer and #4 Max & Ruby), and also bested its closest competitor by double-digits with kids 2-5 (+86%) and total viewers (+32%).

Nick’s digital nets also closed the month with big wins. Nick Jr. posted its best May performance ever with kids 2-5 and total viewers. Nicktoons also scored its best May ever with its key kids 6-11, boys 6-11, tweens 9-14 and boys 9-14 demos.
