LOS ANGELES With the school year ending and sunny days just around the corner, The Hub television network, a destination for kids and their families, will bring viewers a new summer programming schedule that will reflect the seasonal schedules of kids and parents. Viewers can expect a summer full of special holiday marathons of favorite Hub series, a wide array of popular family-friendly movies, and a new “Saturday Mashup” scheduling strategy.

Throughout the summer, “Saturday Mashup” will feature original episodes of series on The Hub in a special themed lineup that will highlight the network’s game shows, comedies, and action/adventure series in designated, kid-friendly blocks.

A preview of the new “Saturday Mashup” programming schedule will debut Memorial Day weekend on Saturday, May 28, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. ET.  The Hub will tee up the new Saturday schedule by presenting two back-to-back episodes of each of the popular Hasbro Studios produced series “My Little Pony Friendship is Magic,” “Pound Puppies,” and “Family Game Night,” followed by a three-hour marathon (previously announced) of the first six episodes of “Jem and the Holograms,” an animated series which originally aired in the late 1980s and whose fans are passionate and numerous.

In addition to the framed Saturday programming events, The Hub will present special programming lineups for each of the summer holidays with an emphasis on family-friendly shows that kids and their parents will want to watch together.  Memorial Day will be celebrated with the network’s “Hub of the Brave” day-long lineup of programming featuring heroic acts from some of The Hub’s favorite series characters.   Father’s Day and Independence Day will feature similar lineups highlighting favorite episodes of “GI Joe: A Real American Hero” and “GI Joe Renegades,” and “Transformers Generation 1” and “Transformers Prime.”

“The Hub Family Movie” will provide a summer escape for the whole family with a roster of movies that include well-known classics such as Free Willy, The Iron Giant, Cats & Dogs, 102 Dalmatians, and Gremlins.

The centerpiece of the movie lineup will be The Hub’s World Television Premiere of “Free Willy: Escape from Pirate’s Cove,” starring 11-year-old Australian Bindi Irwin and Beau Bridges in the heartwarming story of a young girl who discovers a baby Orca stranded in a lagoon near her grandfather’s rundown seaside amusement park in South Africa, leading her on a quest to return the whale back to his pod.

The Hub’s summer season of family entertainment continues in August with the eagerly anticipated premiere of all new episodes of the animated series “Pound Puppies,” including the voice talents of Eric McCormack and Betty White. The Hub Original Series produced by Hasbro Studios will kick off with an episode following the fearless dogs from Shelter 17 as they set out to have one of their own win a trophy at a regional dog show.  The new episodes will be the cornerstone of The Hub’s “Dog Days of Summer” programming event, which will also include favorite canine movies such as Air Bud, Cats & Dogs, and All Dogs Go To Heaven.

Also in August is the second season premiere of The Hub Original Series “Family Game Night.” The live-action family game show returns with all new classic games added as well as brand new original challenges, in a larger-than-life environment that is bigger, better, and more exciting than anything at your kitchen table! As a bonus, August will also play host to special early sneak peeks of The Hub’s upcoming new original game shows, “The Game of Life” and “Scrabble Showdown,” premiering later in the year. All three game shows are produced by Hasbro Studios.
