Celebrate the end of the school year with YTV on Thursday, June 23

Exclusive sneak previews of Rated A for Awesome on YTV.com starting Monday, June 6

(Toronto, Canada) Corus Entertainment’s kids networks celebrate the end of the school year with specials and premieres including a brand new one-hour episode of YTV’s Big Time Rush featuring Russell Brand. Other highlights include: the YTV premieres of Escape From Scorpion Island III and Samurai Girl, the Nickeleodeon premiere of Bubble Guppies, and the return of Treehouse’s annual Hello Summer event.

YTV JUNE 2011 HIGHLIGHTS

END OF SCHOOL
Kids can kick off the start of summer vacation with some of their favourite YTV characters. End of school programming on Thursday, June 23 begins at 4 p.m. with brand-new episodes from top YTV shows including SpongeBob SquarePants, Fanboy and Chum Chum and Big Time Rush.

BIG TIME RUSH: BIG TIME BEACH PARTY – PREMIERE – WITH SPECIAL APPEARANCE BY RUSSELL BRAND
In this one-hour special, the members of boy band Big Time Rush throw a beach party with the Palm Woods students at a beach house in Malibu. While Carlos and Logan hunt for buried treasure, James falls for a pretty girl who he suspects is a mermaid (Gage Golightly, The Troop), and Kendall and Jo’s relationship hits the skids.  Will their beach day lead to a break up? Russell Brand (Arthur, Hop) guest stars. Big Time Rush: Big Time Beach Party premieres on Thursday, June 23 at 6 p.m.

ESCAPE FROM SCORPION ISLAND III – SERIES PREMIERE
In this BBC adventure game show, sixteen child contestants are plucked from thousands and stranded on an idyllic, tropical island with a mind of its own. Through a series of challenges, the teams compete to win Island Torches and improve their chances of escaping. Three teams – Sting, Claw and Venom – will learn to cope with this extraordinary new life, bond with their team-mates as they face off against their rivals, and compete in a series of awe-inspiring challenges. In episode one, a child disappears only moments after setting foot on the island. There will be action, drama, explosions and euphoria while these young contestants are thousands of miles away from school, friends and family. Escape From Scorpion Island III premieres on Monday, June 27 at 4:30 p.m.

SAMURAI GIRL – MINI-SERIES PREMIERE
At six months old, Heaven (Jamie Chung, Sucker Punch) is the only survivor of a deadly plane crash. Adopted by one of Japan’s wealthiest and most powerful families, she lives a protected and privileged life. Now, as a nineteen year old, her life is shattered when she discovers her adoptive father is really the head of the Yakuza (Japanese mafia) and may have had her beloved brother killed. When she also learns that her past is linked to an ancient secret prophecy, she breaks from her family and trains to become a samurai and fight back. With the help of new American friends, including Jake (Brendan Fehr, Bones), Heaven sets out to take down her father’s evil empire. Samurai Girl premieres Saturday, June 11 at 9 p.m.

RATED A FOR AWESOME – SNEAK PREVIEWS ON YTV.COM
Starting on Monday, June 6, kids can visit YTV.com for an exclusive sneak peek of Rated A for Awesome, debuting on YTV in September. Les, Noam, Thera and Lars are a group of ordinary kids on an extraordinary quest – to make their world more awesome! With the help of their monkey, Mr. Twitchy, Team Awesome is fighting the perils of blah and boredom with big ideas, wacky gadgets, and fierce determination.

NICKELODEON JUNE 2011 HIGHLIGHTS

BUBBLE GUPPIES – SERIES PREMIERE
Meet the Bubble Guppies – Gil, Molly, Deema, Nonny, Oona and Goby – a diverse group of adventurous underwater preschoolers learning about the world around them. Set to a soundtrack of catchy, educational pop songs, Bubble Guppies explores a wide range of topics, from dentists and dinosaurs, to rock & roll and recycling. In each episode, the characters lead the learning process, discovering something of interest on their way to school and exploring that theme from a variety of angles. The series’ educational approach fosters a love of learning and inspires independent thinking by celebrating children’s natural curiosity and the power of everyday discoveries. Viewers can dive into this vibrant water world of learning and laughter when Bubble Guppies premieres on Wednesday, June 1 at 2 p.m.

FATHER’S DAY
To celebrate Father’s Day, Nick’s regularly-scheduled programming on Sunday, June 19 will pay tribute to Dad with special themed episodes of kids’ favourite shows.

TREEHOUSE JUNE 2011 HIGHLIGHTS

FATHER’S DAY
During Father’s Day weekend, preschoolers can celebrate their dads with themed episodes of popular series, including Franklin and Friends.

FRANKLIN AND FRIENDS: BUMPY BUGGY/FATHER’S DAYPREMIERE
When an accident destroys Franklin’s skateboard and Bear’s lemonade stand, they decide to go to Fox’s house for some wood. By the time they arrive, their crate has become a neat, makeshift Bumpy Buggy. Then, Franklin is so excited to make the perfect Father’s Day gift for Mr. Turtle that he spends the whole day creating one. But when he sees how much fun Goose is having with his Dad, Franklin decides the best gift is to spend time together. Franklin And Friends: Bumpy Buggy/Father’s Day airs on Friday, June 17 at 6 p.m.

HELLO, SUMMER!
On Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26, Treehouse welcomes the summer season with warm, sunny and fun-filled programming. The day features summer-themed episodes from The Backyardigans, Caillou, Dora The Explorer, and Yo Gabba Gabba.
