Cartoon Network Ratings Highlights for November 2010

Cartoon Network’s prime time performance across November 2010 expanded across all kid demos compared to November 2009—average kids 6-11 delivery (545,000) grew by 7%and ratings (2.2) by 5%, kids 2-11 delivery (772,000) grew by 4% and ratings (1.9) by 6%, and kids 9-14 delivery (430,000) and ratings (1.8) both grew by 6%.

The final week of November (11/22-21) also earned similar gains among Cartoon Network’s core demos: kids 6-11 delivery (518,000) grew by 7% and ratings (2.1) by 5%, kids 2-11 delivery (714,000) grew by 3% and ratings (1.7) were unchanged, and kids 9-14 delivery (420,000) grew by 8% and ratings (1.7) by 6%.

Among key programming highlights for the month, a one-hour special event presentation YOUNG JUSTICE (Friday, Nov. 26, 7-8 p.m.) scored significant gains compared to the same time period last year, particularly among older boys and teens.  Boys 6-11 delivery (541,000) advanced by 15% and ratings (4.3) by 16%, and boys 9-14 delivery (466,000) advanced by86% and ratings (2.6) by 85%.   Kids 9-14 delivery (636,000) advanced by 70% and ratings (2.6) by 73%, while teens 12-17 delivery (463,000) advanced by 209% and ratings (1.9) by217%.  YOUNG JUSTICE also attracted more than 2,547,0000 viewers 2+, a dramatic 36% increase compared to the 2009 time period.  Importantly, ALL kids and boys ratings and delivery grew by double digits from the first half-hour of the telecast to the second—including kids 6-11 delivery (716,000) by 16%, kids 2-11 delivery (969,000) by 13%, kids 9-14 delivery (636,000) by 13%.

Scorching away all competition across its premiere (7-8:30 p.m.), Cartoon Network’s FIREBREATHER ranked as Wednesday’s (Nov. 24) #1 telecast of the night among all kids and boys ages 2-11, 6-11, 9-14 and 12-17 vs. all television networks.  The network’s first-ever CG original movie event attracted 3,693,000 viewers ages 2+ (up +19% compared to the same 2009 time period), including nearly 1.7 million kids 2-11, 1.3 million kids 6-11 and 1.1 million kids 9-14—beating all other TV networks by considerable double digits.  Both kids and boys ages 2-11 and 6-11 grew over each half-hour, with double-digits gains between the first and third half-hour measurement: kids 2-11 grew by 18%, kids 6-11 grew by 21%, boys 2-11 grew by 24% and boys 6-11 grew by 23%.

Cartoon Network’s Monday night line-up (7-10 p.m.) of animated comedies—including Adventure Time, Regular Show, MAD, Robotomy and Total Drama World Tour—earned dramatic across-the-board double-digit growth compared to the 2009 time period: kids 6-11 delivery (683,000) increased by 20% and ratings (2.8) by 22%, kids 2-11 delivery (1,001,000) increased by 21% and ratings (2.4) by 20%, and kids 9-14 delivery (527,000) increased by 7% and ratings (2.2) by 10%.  Even more impressively, boys 6-11 delivery (507,000) increased by 18%, boys 2-11 delivery (699,000) increased by 17% and boys 9-14 delivery (390,000) increased by 5%.

#1 throughout November in its time period among boys 2-11, 6-11 and 9-14ADVENTURE TIME (8 p.m.) charted considerable double-digit growth vs. the 2009 timeslot—kids 6-11 delivery (952,000) increased by 35% and ratings (3.8) by 31%, kids 2-11 delivery (1,337,000) increased by 31% and ratings (3.2) by 28%, and kids 9-14 delivery (722,000) increased by24% and ratings (3.0) by 25%.  Similarly strong, boys 6-11 delivery (730,000) improved by 40%, boys 2-11 delivery (977,000) improved by 35% and boys 9-14 delivery (553,000) improved by 27%.

Also #1 in its time period throughout November 2010 with boys 2-11, 6-11 and 9-14REGULAR SHOW (Monday, 8:15 p.m.) saw kids 6-11 delivery (931,000) improve by 48%; kids 2-11 delivery (1,273,000) improve by 39%, kids 9-14 delivery (784,000) improve by 52%, boys 6-11 delivery (721,000) improve by 49%, boys 2-11 delivery (929,000) improve by 42% and boys 9-14 delivery (612,000) improve by 53%.  MAD (8:30 p.m.) also continued its growth trajectory among targeted kids and boys—kids 6-11 delivery (932,000) grew by 46%, kids 2-11 delivery (1,241,000) grew by 39%, kids 9-14 delivery (835,000) grew by 47%, boys 6-11 delivery (718,000) grew by 48%, boys 2-11 delivery (894,000) grew by 41% and boys 9-14 delivery (645,000) grew by 50%.

TOTAL DRAMA WORLD TOUR (Monday, 9 p.m.) concluded its 2010 run in November, posting remarkable double-digit gains across all kids and boys demos vs. the 2009 time period: average kids 6-11 delivery (739,000) expanded by 66% and ratings (3.0) by 67%, kids 2-11 delivery (976,000) expanded by 49% and ratings (2.3) by 44%, and kids 9-14 delivery (667,000) expanded by 66% and ratings (2.7) by 59%.  Boys 6-11 delivery (540,000) grew by 73%, boys 2-11 delivery (672,000) grew by 49% and boys 9-14 delivery (493,000) grew by63%.

Wednesday night’s schedule of live-action alternative programming (7-10 p.m.) ranked #1 throughout November among its primary audience of boys 9-14.  Among its original programmingHOLE IN THE WALL (7:30 p.m.) grew kids 6-11 delivery (613,000) by 12%, kids 9-14 delivery (461,000) by 12%, boys 6-11 delivery (474,000) by 16% and boys 9-14 delivery (345,000) by 9%.  DUDE, WHAT WOULD HAPPEN (8 p.m.) also posted good growth: kids 6-11 delivery (659,000) up by 5%, kids 2-11 delivery (863,000) up by 2%, boys 6-11 delivery (561,000) up by 9% and boys 2-11 delivery (676,000) up by 2%DESTROY BUILD DESTROY (8:30 p.m.) crowned the evening with strong growth across the board—kids 6-11 delivery (658,000) increased by 27%, kids 2-11 delivery (835,000) increased by 28%, kids 9-14 delivery (516,000) increased by 26%, boys 6-11 delivery (556,000) increased by 32%, boys 2-11 delivery (641,000) increased by 27% and boys 9-14 delivery (444,000) increased by 33%.

Friday night’s animated action-adventure block also posted gains vs. the 2009 time period: kids 6-11 delivery (651,000) improved by 10%, kids 2-11 delivery (879,000) improved by 2%, and kids 9-14 delivery (529,000) by 20%.   Similarly, boys 6-11 delivery (537,000) improved by 18%, boys 2-11 delivery (671,000) improved by 5%, and boys 9-14 delivery (432,000) improved by 24%.  Each of the Friday night series—BEN 10: ULTIMATE ALIEN (7:30 p.m.), SYM-BIONIC TITAN (8 p.m.), GENERATOR REX (8:30 p.m.) and STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS (9 p.m.)—earned solid delivery and ratings growth among kids 6-11, kids 9-14, boys 6-11 and boys 9-14.  BEN 10: ULTIMATE ALIEN attracted the largest growth, with kids 6-11 delivery (781,000) increasing by 47%, kids 2-11 delivery (1,057,000) increasing by 28%, kids 9-14 delivery (596,000) increasing by 29%, boys 6-11 delivery (636,000) increasing by 58%, boys 2-11 delivery (799,000) increasing by 31% and boys 9-14 delivery (488,000) increasing by 33%.
