NICKELODEON CLOSES WEEK AS BASIC CABLE’S TOP TOTAL DAY NETWORK WITH KIDS AND TOTAL VIEWERS

NEW YORK–June 22, 2010– Nickelodeon closed the week (6/14/10-6/20/10) as basic cable’s number-one network in total day with kids 2-11(3.5/1.2 million), kids 6-11 (3.4/748,000), and total viewers (2.3 million).   Nick’s weekly win was driven by a premiere of Big Time Rush (Friday, June 18, 8 p.m. ET/PT), which drew 3.2 million total viewers and averaged a 5.2/1.9 million K2-11, 0.3/1.4 million K6-11, 4.6/1.0 million.

Nick’s weekly ratings performance also was highlighted by SpongeBob SquarePants and also The Penguins of Madagascar–which quarter to date ranks as the number-two animated series on all TV with kids 2-11 and kids 6-11, behind only SpongeBob SquarePants.  The Saturday morning premiere of SpongeBob SquarePants (10 a.m., ET/PT) scored 3.7 million total viewers and averaged a 5.5/2.0 million K2-11, 5.9/1.3 million K6-11, and 3.9/850,000 T9-14.  The Penguins of Madagascar followed at 10 a.m., ET/PT and drew 3.3 million total viewers, averaging a 4.8/1.7 million K2-11, 5.5/1.2 million K6-11, and 4.0/865,000 T9-14.

Additionally, SpongeBob SquarePants is pacing to end second quarter (3/29/10- 6/27/10) as the number-one series with kids 2-11 on broadcast and cable TV, the number-one animated series with kids 6-11 on all TV, and basic cable’s top-rated animated series with total viewers. Year to date, SpongeBob SquarePants ranks as the number-one animated series on all television with kids 2-11, kids 6-11 and is cable’s top animated series with total viewers.   Also, the series has ranked as one of basic cable’s top 10 programs with total viewers for 21 out of the last 25 weeks.

Nicktoons continues its momentum, closing the week with double-digit gains over last year with tweens 9-14 (+40% in rating), boys 9-14 (+43% in rating).  The net also scored its most-watched week ever with Boys 6-11 (+9 %), Tweens 9-14 (+26%), and Boys 9-14 (+36) and total viewers (+21%).
