Series Telecast on Record in Total Viewers, Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14

“Friday, August 17, 2007” (8:00-11:00 p.m.)

  • “Disney High School Musical 2” now stands as the most-watched cable telecast of all time in Total Viewers (17.2 million).
  •  “Disney High School Musical 2” now ranks as the most-watched TV telecast ever in Kids 6-11 (6.1 million), and the most-watched entertainment telecast ever in Tweens 9-14 (5.9 million).
  • Friday’s No. 1 network with 14.0 million Total Viewers, Disney Channel recorded the largest Prime audience for any network on the night during summer (excludes sports and Olympics) in nearly 10 years (since 9/5/97 – NBC).  In fact, the Net more than tripled its closest broadcast competitor, CBS (211%, 4.5 million), and quadrupled its closest cable competitor, USA (312%, 3.4 million).
  • An astounding 2 out of 3 Kids 6-11 (67 share) and Tweens 9-14 (68 share) watching television tuned in to watch “Disney High School Musical 2.”  Among Girls 6-11, a remarkable 4 out of 5 (80 share) were watching “HSM2.” Compared to broadcast programming, “Disney High School Musical 2” outperformed every telecast of Fox’s “American Idol’ and CBS’ “Survivor” in Kids 6-11 (25.0/67) and Tweens 9-14 (24.2/68).
  •  “Disney High School Musical 2” ranked as the No. 1 basic cable movie of all time in Total Viewers (17.2 million), towering above previous record holder TNT’s “Crossfire Trail” (12.5 million, 1/21/01) or by 38%.
  • “Disney High School Musical 2” was TV’s No. 1 Friday entertainment telecast in more than five years (since 5/10/02) in Total Viewers.

“Phineas and Ferb” (10:05-10:20 p.m.)

  • The special preview of upcoming original series “Phineas and Ferb” generated Disney Channel’s second-largest audience of all time in Total Viewers (10.8 million) and Kids 6-11 (4.2 million), and tied lead-out “Hannah Montana” as the second-most-watched in Tweens 9-14 (4.2 million).

“Hannah Montana” (10:20-10:45 p.m.)

  • Friday’s all new “Hannah Montana” episode now stands as basic cable’s No. 1 series telecast of all time in Total Viewers (10.7 million), Kids 6-11 (4.2 million) and Tweens 9-14 (4.1 million).
  • Friday’s all new “Hannah Montana” episode ranked as Disney Channel’s third-highest-rated telecast of all time in Total Viewers (10.7 million) and Kids 6-11 (4.1 million), and tied lead-in “Phineas and Ferb” as the second-most-watched in Tweens 9-14 (4.2 million).
