Cartoon Network Posts Major Increases in All Dayparts;

Delivers Most Kids in Network History In a rare accomplishment for any network, Cartoon Network had significant increases in both ratings and delivery in every daypart last week, April 13-19, vs. same week a year ago. The blanket increases were bolstered by strong performances from newly acquired programs like Batman: The Animated Series and Beetlejuice, as well as originals like Dexter’s Laboratory and Cow and Chicken.

On the verge of the 50 million subscriber milestone, Cartoon Network’s ratings and delivery increases far outpace its 20 percent increase in distribution over the last year. The network tied for second among all basic cable networks last week with a 1.1 total day household rating, a 38 percent increase. Moreover, kids 6-11 delivery more than doubled (116 percent), setting a network record at 177,000.The strong total day numbers originated from impressive key daypart performances both in households and with kids 6-11:

Morning Block (6-10 a.m.)Delivery more than doubled (131 percent) in households (495,000) and nearly quadrupled (278 percent) among kids 6-11 (151,000).
Early Fringe (5 – 8 p.m.)Household delivery (622,000) increased 44 percent, and kids 6-11 (236,000) was up 72 percent.

Prime Time (8-11 p.m.)Household delivery (759,000) jumped 30 percent while kids 6-11 (307,000) rose 61 percent.

“These numbers clearly show that the growth of our network is driven by the increases in our kids 6-11 viewers,” said Betty Cohen, president of Cartoon Network Worldwide. “Our core audience is not only responding to our originals, but to our marquee acquisitions and library titles as well.”
